I love platinum on a ring like this because it makes the ring have heft on the hand. My Aurora is plat and I like it a lot. It will patina over time, but with so little metal really showing, it is not really as much of an issue IMO as on a solitaire where patina could bother some people.

I have to tell you, you will go bananas when you see your ring. I have owned a larger solitaire (1.7ct) and now own my Aurora band, which is 5 30 ppinters and a bunch of 10 pointers, and the bling factor from multiple small diamonds is absolutely insane compared to a single larger stone. If bling is what you want, there is nothing better than a five stone band. Yours is going to be phenomenal.

Thanks! This is the reaction I am going for.

And thank you for your thoughts on the platinum as well. It's very helpful. :))

I love platinum. And agree with Dreamer that on a multi-stone ring with nice finger coverage in diamonds the platinum is really lovely and the patina doesn't bug much. It would totally be worth the 300 bucks to me-- of course, I just made the same decision with my new RHR setting. WG (unplated) was 300 less and I opted for platinum just because it's a better fit for me.

I think your ring is a going to be awesome. :wavey:

Thanks Gypsy! :wavey: I think ive pretty much settled on the Platinum. :sun:

NEW CAD!

(I sent yssies awesome drawing to Denise last week but the pic never came through so they couldn't include those changes... oops).

BIG difference! :appl:

Wow, very pretty. I love how the prongs are less noticeable from the top view.

MUCH MUCH better! I even like the 6 prongs on the center now! Amazing what a difference that one change made. Fabulous! Can't wait to see the final ring now! I'm so excited for you!

Awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Looks terrific!

Thank you yssie, slg, pregcurious, Gypsy, Charmy and Laila!!

I am once again, very excited about this ring!

The invoice has been issued and paid for... so now the wait begins! :appl:

I think it really looks great, too! :appl: Don't see a thing I'd change!

this is going to be GORGEOUS!!!

Wow I am so excited to see this ring!! I only just saw this thread... hope you get it soon!

HOT

Thought I would stop by and check when that sparkly will be on these sunny shores? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Can I also ask you a question? I remember you said that you were going to have your centre stone set here in Perth. Can I ask who you will be using to do this? :saint: :saint: :saint:

Reason I ask as my diamond may be going on a wee USA trip soon and needs to be removed from her current setting.
(No worries if you don't want to say. I would just prefer to use someone recommended rather that randomly choosing a jeweller here)

:wavey:

Hi Susie! No word yet on when the ring will be ready but I'm hoping to hear something tomorrow. Hopefully I will have it in a couple of weeks.

I was planning to take my e ring and the new setting to the jeweler where my e ring came from

www.rossezekieljewellery.com.au

He is at 80 Barrack street Perth. He doesn't have a shop frontage on the street as such, his office/shop and bench is upstairs in that building. He was happy to reset my stone for me and said he would charge about $60 to do so.

I have been thinking of starting a thread to see where other people take their jewelry to get work done in Perth. My main reason for returning to Ross (apart from him selling us the diamond) is because I don't anywhere better. :))

I have used Odgaards for resizing rings and shaving down the shank of my E ring as it was too wide for my liking, but was recently told by a friend who had her own e ring setting made there (bought the stone from GOG) that they wouldn't clean her wedding and eternity band as they didn't sell them to her and didn't want to be liable for other peoples work so I'm not sure if they do outside work anymore (and they were pretty expensive).

So... Maybe a new thread is in order? :)

Hey HOT :wavey:

Thanks for that!! I really appreciate you taking the time out, of counting the minutes till your new ring arrives, to answer me!!!
I know how hard that is. I truly hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

I am going to call Ross tomorrow and arrange to have my diamond removed from its setting. Hopefully he has re opened from the Holidays and will do it for me without having to leave it there.
I was so spoiled at home. I knew all my bench people and was very good friends with one. We used to go for lunch (that should be a drink  ) every time I had a project/repair. I miss that trust!! (and the drinking :Up_to_something:  )

I actually asked this question recently and got a few suggestions. As both aren't local I never did get round to checking them out. I also referred to a post by I think Ginger and AJ which was very useful. However I have not yet found a bench. I am hoping Ross will be it!!! Also from a cost perspective for my reset USA was the only viable option for what I want. (plus I have done a complete 360. Will post when I feel confessional enough!!)

Here are links to both threads.

Ooh I can't wait to hear what you have come up with! :appl:

Now from what I remember, Ross isn't a jeweler himself. He is the business man behind the scenes and does all the diamond buying but he has a couple of people on the bench who are often in the 'display' area so I am sure if you pre arrange it on the phone you will be able to speak to them personally. I will warn you though. Don't be surprised if Ross warns you about the dangers of buying a setting from the US. He told me he had seen a lot of them and they were no good. I told him not to worry and that I had done my homework. His response was "we'll see'' um, yeah you will.

Now I can't remember where you are exactly but I am pretty sure you are north? There is also Clarity Jewelers in Mt Hawthorn, the shop is in the small shopping center on Scarborough Beach Road. A few years ago Ross' head jeweler left to start up his own business and this is where he is now. My sister in law uses him and she is always dropping names of his clients. There's been a few eagles players and Danny Green (boxer) has been one from memory. It's only a very small store with the bench at the back behind glass so you can see the work being done.

I never saw the thread that you started a few months ago, sorry! I read through both of them and it's a bit depressing that we can't find anyone to make decent quality settings and good prices! But I guess all we need to find is a bench That we are happy with to have small things checked etc. Fingers crossed this is it! But I wish we could find somewhere we didn't have to travel all the way into the city for!

Thank you DS, Bella and June Rose!

January 9th is the estimated time of shipment so I should have the ring in about 2 weeks. Just in time for my return back to work where I will be so busy I won't have time to get the stone set. oh well, it will happen when it happens I guess!

HOT

Thank you once again. :appl:

This gives me a few more options. I will start off by calling both your recommendations and I will go with whomever I get the best vibe from. I HATE this part. :errrr: :errrr: :errrr:

The deconstruction of something I love, by someone who doesn't know me or my ring or how uptight I am!!!

Anyway, it'll be worth it!! ;)

I will look forward to the day you get your setting and have it all come together, beautifully!!!

:wavey:

Anytime Susie! :wavey:

How did you go yesterday? Any luck? I'm heading into the city today to do a bit of window shopping. :naughty:

Hi Hot

I'm just back from the city. I went straight to Ross's shop and spoke to the two ladies on reception. I had called them yesterday and they said bring it in today (Thursday) and they would have it done by close of business.

I was in for all of about 4 minutes, diamond was removed, put in little box for safe keeping, setting returned intact and all for $0!!!

They did it for me for free!! I was  at first, then :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

So they have a new customer, for sure!!!

Thanks for the tip.

Now just have to wait for my bank transfer to clear, fedex labels, then a trip to fedex (I HATE THAT BIT!!!!!!! They are always so nosy!! watch out for a thread on that soon  )

I will be waiting with interest on your project, though. It'll be here very soon I hope. Might start hanging outside Ross's shop.

:wavey:

Oh that's awesome Susie! I'm so glad that it all worked out well for you. :appl: :appl: :appl:

You know we would have been within 1km of each other in the city today!

If only I had headed over to Ross's to get my rings cleaned :naughty: :cheeky:

I found another Jeweler today in London Court who mainly do settings and repairs for other jewelers. They quoted me $50 to set my stone. When I get the card out of my wallet I will post details.

Ooh it sounds like you are well on your way for your own ring as well! :naughty: I can't wait to see what you are doing! :appl:

If only you had!!

But I do not know if I would recognise you without your wedding dress on!!!

That is how I picture you walking through the city streets!!

I hope to be very well versed in your new ring and will be sparkly spotting till I find you!!!! In a totally non stalkerish way but in a nosy PS kind of a way!! ;))

Keep me posted on who you prefer. It is time my rings were all checked and polished and I really want to get a bench sorted ASAP!!!

I will eventually get round to starting a thread on my latest project. Well, that is once my diamond (fingers crossed) arrives in LA intact.
If and when that happens I will tell all. I am feeling a bit sick about the whole sending overseas process and do not envisage me doing it again. EVER!! I'll visit the good old US of A instead. A real dream of mine/ours.

Hope you are surviving the waiting process!! :wavey:

So here is a line up of the .20 / .40 / 1ct/ .40 / .20

they couldn't do one with the 25's as they had none in stock, but i think i'm liking the 20's anyway.

What do you think?
those are stunning!!! off to read the rest of this thread

Thank you skippy! :))

Susie~ I'm going to post in the new Perth thread that was started so i'll see you over there about the jeweler. :sun:
