Thanks Yssie and slg!!

I've pulled the trigger on the stones.

*deep breaths*

I like the proportions on the stones too. Have you decided for sure on the mounting?

Hot,

They look fabulous.

When will this fabulous ring be hitting these shores? ;))

:wavey:

Yep it's going to be a Yssie/Rosetta 3 stone reincarnate into a five stone, with Pink Argyle suprise stones on the head of the main stone or on the top of the shank ala the nightingale, depending on what looks best.

I'll pay for the CAD fee on Monday and then we will get started. :appl:

Thanks Susie!

I'm really hoping before Xmas but I've got to get my stone and the Pinks to BGD and I'm waiting for my friend to receive her new studs (shipped today) and for the 2 week viewing period to pass so I get the extra $100 off so realistically they won't be starting the ring for at least another 3 weeks. I hope we can pull it off! I'll be devastated if I have to wait until next year (Xmas, NY and my BD all in that time!) to get it!

How about you?

Sweet!

Now there's just the CADs... this is going to be a fabulous piece!! I'll have fingers crossed for an on-time delivery for you

:appl: Yay! Looking forward to watching the process HOT! I like the proportions so much!

Sounds amazing!!!

I am going to wait until the new year, maybe even till after Valentine's Day. I am an old married lady and I do not want to get in the way of all the soon to be newly engaged couples!!

I am also undecided as to what I want. I am more sure now than I was but I was blown away by some of the antique settings posted on my thread. So I am exploring other ideas and options.

I will update everyone when I do decide what I am doing!!

I'll be looking around town for that beauty when it arrives!! :wavey:

I'm up at 4am checking my emails from Denise... Excited much?

Thanks again Yssie, I need to get this ball rolling if I'm going to have any chance of getting it done in time!

Thanks Packy! I was very skeptical of the smaller stones but it's seems that they are not that small at all really. I'm liking the graduation. :sun:

Thanks Susie! YOUR ring is going to be amazing! And I think you are very sane waiting until after the Xmas/ v day rush! If I was bright I would have as well, but hubby said I could do it so I had to strike while the iron was still hot. :cheeky:

Your ring looks like it will be stunning!!! and I have to admit I am looking to do something somewhat similar on down the road...so I cant wait to see the final product :naughty:

It's going to be amazing! I'm so happy the 20 pointers worked out for you. I love the proportions and can NOT wait till the project is finished!

I am no help with the ring because I'd make it a 3 stone with the 25 or 30 sides! You had great finger coverage with 3!

Sorry DS, I missed this! I just looked back at my pics and yeah, there is a bit of finger coverage with the 3, and that's what I originally planned to do, but I know that after a few months of wearing it I'd be wishing there were a couple of extra stones in there. :halo:

Thanks diamondrnglover and Gypsy! I was very skeptical of the 20s but after seeing that the 12 pointers on Yssies new ring don't look small at all I think it should be fine.

I can't wait to see the finished product either! :appl:

I prefer the Yssie version.

Thanks Amy!

I'm just making some notes for my talk with Brian tomorrow as I don't want to miss anything.

6 prongs on the center stone
3 prongs on the last stones
Not sure what you do with stones 2+4 regarding prongs.
Stones to follow the curve of my finger rather than have the center stone sit much higher than the rest.
Thinnest shank possible.
Size 4 - is it possible to make it slightly bigger than a size 4 so I can get it over my knuckle?
Suprise stones on either the head of the main stone OR on the shank like the nightingale.
If it detracts from the design too much I'm happy to do away with them altogether.
Crossbars on stones only if necessary for the structure.
The last stones need to hang over the ends of the finger (so not end at the edge of my finger) for aesthetic value. (I'm sure this won't be a problem with a size 4 though!)
Comfort is a factor - I'm worried about the end stone/ prong digging in to adjacent fingers when I write (I'm left handed)  so end stones may need to be set lower than the others (or something else?) Not sure if that makes sense!
So this ring will be a stand alone wedding and engagement ring For my left finger.

Is there anything else that I should be asking for, specifying etc? I've never done anything like this before and would rather give him all the info now rather than try and fix the CAD when it comes back.

LOVE those proportions HOT!!! This is going to be one stunning ring :appl: I would do the surprise stones on the shank like the nightingale, I'm having a hard time picturing them flowing well with the profile... Just my 2 cents though.

Sounds like a pretty comprehensive list.. the good part is that if you do miss something you do have the CAD to warn you.
I'll be looking forward to hearing what they say!

My talk with Brian went well last week. I have nixed the pink suprise stones as they would need to go on the shank and the size he was thinking of using I can't afford. :cheeky: I'd rather have a thinner shank with no suprise stones than a thicker shank with them, mainly for preserving my poor knuckles.

We have 90% decided that I am not going to send my e ring over to the US. With Australian customs requiring me to declate mysle as an 'exporter/importer' and with all the required paperwork it was just getting too difficult. They will finindh the setting with the 4 stones and have it sent to me and i will get a local jeweler to set my centre stone. The thought makes me a little nervous but not as nervous as the thought of sending my ering there and back.

No CAD yet. Denise said last week that it would take around a week. Lesley said yesterday that she sat down with the CAD designer last night and that they should have something for me in a week or so.

How long do they usually take? and when do I start pushing for them to hurry up? I know they are busy with the lead up to xmas and the big sale they had last week but i don't want to get pushed to the back of the pile (esp since i paid full price for those diamonds just days before the 10% off) with others who have ordered after me getting priority. They are so nice to deal with I'm not sure if i should say anything but then at the same time i don't want to be a pushover!

I don't think it's the least bit out of line to ask what caused the delay - but I also don't think you should jump to the conclusion that they've pushed you back. That could be one reason, but there are others - machine trouble, someone vital to your design was unexpectedly absent, design changes...

I do think that BGD has been experiencing growing pains and that sort of issue only gets worse over the busy holiday season, so I'd be more vigilant about staying on top of your project - the fact that you're international makes problems that much more of a PITA. If you're the sort of person who needs a status update every couple of days - even if it's just to say there are no updates, but they remember you - definitely let your rep know that :))

Thanks Yssie! You always have wise words of advice. 8)
I'm waiting for Lesley to get back to me in the next few hours about just shipping the setting and if i haven't heard from her by tonight I'll give Denise a quick email to see how it is going.

The wait is driving me partially crazy. :cheeky:

Hi HOT!! :wavey:

I am glad to hear things are finally on the move for you!!

That is a fab idea having the ring made and the centre set over here. I hope that avoids the issue you mention.

I have my fingers crossed this beauty is done ASAP, so you have it in time for the holidays.

Keep us posted. ;))

Ps - Should i start another thread about sending an existing ring from Australia to the USA and back? Sounds complicated ;(

Edited because the heat over here is causing me to have a typing melt down.

The heat? Oh Susie dear, you have no idea. Perth is just getting started. :cheeky:

That's a great idea about the thread! It would be good to have all that info in one place. I found plenty of threads about shipping rings in but not too much for getting them out (and then back in again!)

Honestly it's a huge relief that I don't have to worry about it this time. Australian customs don't always get these things right and I think it was only inevitable that they messed it up one way or another!

Thank you so much for crossing your fingers for me! :wavey:

I am pathetic when it comes to heat!

This is like the hottest day ever, in Scottish terms.

I hope I acclimatise quickly.

I will start another thread once I do some reading on the matter. I really want to do my reset and cannot imagine I am going to find what I want, for the price I want to pay, here.
I find jewellery, very very expensive! ;(

I will be crossing everything in the hope that beauty is on your finger by the latest Christmas Eve.

(and I will be stalking the streets of Perth trying to catch a glimpse of it :Up_to_something: )

HOT could I request some pics of the setting before you have your centre set? I'd love to see how the interiors are cast with the fivestone design - I'm wondering if they'll do it the same way as WF did my threestone, or if not what's different..? And several hundred once it's set of course!!

Heat? Eeek! We never made it out to Perth but we spent a few years in Brisbane and that was heat enough!! DH makes fun of me constantly - I'm apparently the only Indian that he's ever met who prefers the cold 8)

Of course Yssie! I'll post as many as you like.

CAD was finally in my inbox this morning. I wasn't expecting it to take 2 weeks! I don't think there's any chance of getting this by Christmas now and I really don't want the package to be in transit over the Christmas New Year shutdown period so I am not sure what I will do.

Anyhoo. I shall post the CAD pics in a minute. I just have to wait until DH has stopped watching the live streaming of the surfing so I can get onto the computer.

HOT when I was working with BGD they said it might take 2 weeks for CAD...I think that is normal. anyway I can't wait to see pictures!!!

Ah ok, I didn't realize. I was just going by the info listed on the website which was 2 weeks for the whole process!

I'll post them soon. 8 minutes left in the heat. I really wish I could just post the pic from the iPad. It would be much easier!

Wow - I like it! What are your thoughts?
