I am not sure the James Allen statements are true.

You also have to keep in mind that James Allen is a mega-online vendor vs WhiteFlash and GOG that do a small fraction of their business. You are always going to get different service from a boutique than you do from a megastore... even if James Allen has incredible service and a very knowledgeable staff. Still isn't Wink or Brian Gavin...

That's a nice stone. Ticks all his boxes. Conservative. And if the 'end' goal is over 2.5 this one allows an easy upgrade to something larger. Or to a different shape, if that's the desire down the road.

So I realize that your looking for a MRB but have you checked out other stones? With your budget you could get something super unique and classic. While MRB are beautiful I find them to be a dime a dozen (esp in the cities) and they aren't the show stoppers they once were (don't get me wrong-they are still beautiful) I however tend to like more unique things and I think if you went with something different but still classic-you could blow her away.

I know you said G was as low as you'd go but there's a stunning stone on JBEG that would look amazing in any setting. It's also VVS in clarity

My point is there are SO many options for your budget. Heck with that kind of money you could propose to her in Paris and HAVE HER PICK HER RING OUT THERE with you. Don't rush to find the perfect ring for the perfect proposal. You can still do it and then enjoy shopping with her. Women love that stuff

She may even fall in love with a colored stone ring. I know I have since being married and wish I had a sapphire e-ring

Vintagelover the old euro cut looks great. There really are alot of options for me and I have finally picked one above the rest or shall I say A Cut Above the rest. 2.054 F VS2 ACA from Whiteflash. I'm sure this diamond will look great and if she ever wants to upgrade she can just trade it in. Hopefully she doesn't though as I've spent a lot of time and energy finding the one.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions and advice. I hope to comeback with good news and maybe a few pics of the ring in Paris for the forum.
