Hi everyone,

My wife has a gorgeous 3ct J AGS ideal solitaire from Salomon Brothers. It really does shine. With that said, we were thinking of moving to a 3-stone design and setting the solitaire with a large gemstone of some sort, to mix things up. The Solitaire setting has been giving us a bit of trouble by coming loose, which is worrysome with such a large diamond.

What is the general opinion of 3-stone rings around here? I was thinking a couple of .75 carat J stones from Whiteflash and a simple setting that shows off the diamonds as an option. I could go smaller or larger on the side stones, but that may be a good ratio.

Can anyone point me to a thread with lots of pics for large 3-stone rings?

Look for rings with small side stones too. You’d be surprised but large stones sometimes make the center look smaller than it would with petite side stones

I love a 3 stone, but either with smaller round sides just to accent or even better, different shape (traps or pears)

I LOVE 3-stone diamond rings. But I concur that small sidestones make the center pop/look biggest

A good start is going through the links given above, to see what you prefer & don't prefer size wise for sides. Here's another way to visualize that helped me on my journey:

Good luck!

I'm a fan. 1.75 center with .63/.64 sides. Size is 4 3/4ish

I don't think so! It's actually my favorite setting...here is mine:)
