Hi, I need help deciding. I am looking at 1 ct oval center and have always loved 3 stone rings. Now, I can't decide on which looks best with a 1 ct oval. The jeweler is suggesting .25 ct half moons per side and .30 ct ovals per side. I've seen so many lovely pictures on PS. Kaleigh's comes to mind. Just gorgeous! However, I can't compare such LARGE diamonds to my modest ones. So, if anyone has pics of 1 ct flanked by similar sized side stones, I'd love to see how they look. (especially hand shots) I'm so indecisive so your input is much appreciated!

Personally I love the look of side pears for a 3-stone. I like the way the wide part butts up to the center stone and the pointy part tapers away.

I vote 1/2 moons - I love 'em and you don't see them nearly as often.

Half-moons! The look is so gorgeous and unique!! Can't wait to hear which way you choose to go :)

Hi, I've always been a fan of ovals with the half moon sides. Good luck with your decision!

half moons!!!!!!

Thanks for your replies. At one point, I did consider pear sides but my other half doesn't care for them. I have always liked 3 stone all ovals but I can't help to b drawn to the half moons. It looks so fluid with the oval. Is it just me or does half moons make the ring look larger? I'll need help in that department since my center won't be big. Again, thanks for your input! I hope to make a decision soon.

I love half moons paired with ovals.

+1 *drool*

I vote for half moons! I think they look great with ovals.

Another vote for half moons...will be unique with your oval but classic at the same time!

100% for sure half moons!

Yet another vote for half-moons - but I would probably go for three-prongs holding the half-moons instead of four, for a softer, more rounded/fluid look.

Half moons for sure! Love that look.

Count me in on the half moon bandwagon!

I'm the only oddball I guess. I vote for 3 ovals. I think an Oval flanked by half-moons would give the whole thing a rounded silhouette, and take away from the ovals elongated and unique shape. In fact it might just look like one huge round.

Oh, I feel the peer pressure...

Well, I hate to disappoint all you ladies. While I think half moons are a bit more unique, the one thing I decided I didn't like was changing the shape of the oval. After looking at many other oval half moon combos, it just made it look like one large diamond or depending on the l/w of half moons, some just looked like a face with big ears. 3 ovals are still not that common and still a classic look. I also went with a platinum 3 stone trellis setting. I should be getting my rendered drawings in a week. I'm very excited.

And thank you all for your opinions!

I think you made a great decision! I completely agree with you on the half moons kind of looking like ears and changing the overall shape. I have personally never been a big fan of half moons. Sometimes they make the whole design of the ring look like one big flower...IMO. I LOVE 3-stone rings with all ovals and I can't wait to see your new ring!!! :appl:

I tend to agree, the oval kind of gets lost in a mass of stones w/ the half moons.

I love Ephemery1's ring here  : https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-oval-e-ring-picture-heavy.46482/

Whatever you do, I'm sure it will be beautiful. I love ovals, congrats!
