It's almost a let-down, but the hunt is finally over. In my hands is the finished product, the e-ring I put together and will offer to my girl on Christmas. Since you all demand pictures, I've posted a few below.
Specs: Oval 1.54 H VS1 VG/VG No Fluor. The only "characteristics" are a needle and some pinpoints under the crown. Personally, I don't see anything.
Hope I'm not breaking any forum rules below, but I just want to share the experience with others and have absolutely nothing to gain.
My quest started out visiting a few top B&M guys in my area. When I got really serious I started talking to four well-regarded vendors on PS -- all but one were exceptionally helpful and determined. I chose to work with Chris at ERD, who completely nailed what I wanted in a stone on the first try, and then went on to work with him on a custom Cartier-inspired setting in platinum with a tapered shank. (In the interim, Mark called me to say he'd be in my area in a couple days and would be happy to bring the three "finalist" stones down for me to see in person.) After several phone calls and emails and reviewing CADs and photos, Chris and I put together a finished "virtual ring" and there were absolutely no surprises when I took delivery and finally saw it in person. Everything was spot-on with the process and I couldn't be happier with the finished product or the experience.
