Oh those I prefer the m.

Niel,
Can you please elaborate :)? Was it the color that sway you over to the M?

I like the perfect squareness of the O SI1 and that the culet isn't so huge. The M VS1 sure looks very white face up though.

I really love the 2.11 - the squared-off outline is perfection, and it faces up much bigger than the 1.9, more than you'd think 20 points would account for.

Chrono,
You're spot on . The M looks very white face up ( I've seen it in person) and the O is very close behind ( understandably so because of the color grade). My dilema is the O will force me toward a simple solitaire setting while the M will allow me to go with some halo setting which is the preferred setting.
Thanks for the input.

I like the 2.11 ct as it is more square and the culet is smaller...I'm not a big fan of super large culets

Gosh tough call! I prefer the shape of the 2.11, but I agree that the M looks like it faces up quite white! If you have fallen in love with a particular setting though, I would go for the M, I'm a total package girl! ;))

Christina,
You must have ready my FG mind :). I'm thinking of pairing this setting with the stone. Any comment is appreciated

I'm partial to a more oval cushion. Plus I like the color of the m

Sorry I should have explained. Haha.

Hi Serifblack, please don't take this the wrong way, but do you have a budget in mind for the setting?

Hi Serifblack, please don't take this the wrong way, but do you have a budget in mind for the setting?
If I go with the 2.11 O, I will only have 1K to go with the setting which most of the time is too low for a halo. My budget for the setting is within 2K

go with the M. Its going to face up whiter, and itll give you more money for the setting. That style setting is really pretty, but I think you have the money to get a much nicer setting, especially if you have 2k to spend on it.

did she say she wanted a two toned one? did she show you that setting?

I love the O. I like the shape of it a lot more than the other. I don't care for the culet in the M. The shape of the O is like the shape of my AVC's, and mine make me giddy every time I look at them.

I would choose the 2.11. I really like the warm color, small culet, and the square shape.

I'm partial to the more square shape of the O... but the M does look like it might face up more white. Can they do a video so we can compare the color face up?

Nice dilemma to have. You can't go wrong with either one.

Love this video showing lower colors facing up brighter than an I MRB:

Here are some AVR's O/P and M color

Does it have to be between these two stone?

Have you looked anywhere else - i.e. ERD?

I think the O would look great in that type of setting - rose gold halo with the warmer stone.

The M looks so much brighter, and I prefer the higher clarity. I find the culet too big though.

Okay, I may be the only one besides you that has physically seen one of those stones! I have seen the 1.91 M and it is a beautiful stone! The culet is gorgeous and really little in person, absolutely not too big!!! I have pictures on a thread if you'd like to see them.

I honestly, though, think I'd like the shape of the 2.11 O stone more for a halo setting. That said, $1000 is not enough for a good quality halo setting and I am not sure $2000 is, either. I would FAR rather see you start out with a solitaire and do a halo for an anniversary later on than get a cheap halo setting for such a gorgeous stone. I am going to link you a cushion stone set in a lovely rose gold solitaire and show you how elegant that can look. It belongs to ksmom who has one of my favorite sets here.

DS I'm so glad you checked in... If anyone knows these diamonds it's you... I love that 1.91 M but I've never seen one of these in person... Makes me nervous about seeing yours in Vegas  .... I'm trying to be good and it's not easy... I'm already looking for trouble! :naughty:

For the OP I think the 1.91M is stunning and I think a simple setting is a great idea and plan the perfect halo in the future! The good news is both are beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong with either!

Trust me, Mary, my three favorite ring stones aside from H&A stones are AVR/OEC's, AVC/antique cushions, and emerald cuts!!!! I am going to be in trouble, too, because I will want YOURS and likely several others that I see there!!! I want to meet everyone so much, but the downside is seeing a bunch of gorgeous rings and will wish I could have one of each! ;(

Niel...great setting options and MUCH better quality than the other one! :appl:

GOG no longer sells ritani, but a few places do, Pearlmans for one, and i do believe they give a PS discount.

If she didnt specify what kind of setting, and you just think she would like a halo, i agree maybe just the O in a solitaire, but if she KNOWS she wants a halo, i say the M with one of those ritani.

I prefer the O.

Originally i liked the cushion shape of the M but then reviewed it a second time the colour of the O got to me. Yes, it may be a bit squarer for a cushion, but the (warmer- pastelly- vanilla-y) colour and the brightness of the O is just deeeeeeeeevvvvviiiiinnnnnnneeeeeeeee!~!!!!!

Simple solitaire setting (not haloed), maybe single or double pronged. I think RG to compliment the colour of the AVC....it could easily work with YG. BUt it will depend on her skin colouring as well. I think ksmom's ring is just beeeaaautiffull... colours works so well there....

ETA changed as i misread that you were buying for your GF and had stated your skin colour, so it is based on her skin colour and what other jewellery that she currently wears. Also, you might want to get her opinion on it as well. does she like cushions, antique cuts. just be absolutely sure.

If you wanted a whiter stone, then the M is the way to go.

Didn't read the responses but I like square cushions and vote for the O. This really is a decision of square or rectangular. I wonder how evident the colour difference is in real life.

I like elongated shapes for large halos, so the M.

clearly we are split.... i think we need a video :Up_to_something:

Also youll want to reserve them anyways, you dont want your decision made by someone buying one

I'd still go for the square, put it in a simple double prong solitaire for now, then get a fine quality halo for an anniversary later.

I didn't consider the M all that big. I really would have kept it had it been in the 2 ct range. I would have set it in a halo for a right hand ring because I don't love elongated cushions as much for e-rings. The M has color. I wouldn't let the color grade make the decision considering M and O are both going to show color. I think they will be beautiful, definitely. But I think the shape and size of the O would be my preference for an e-ring. I absolutely agree with whoever said to be sure she wants a lower color antique cut stone. Did she see them?

Here is one of my pictures of the M stone and a slightly smaller L stone:

Thank you everyone for your input. I can see that there is a split among us. I'm leaning toward the O because of it's size and shape, my only concern is that it will not as white face up as the M. The girlfriend was there and loved both of the stone, I think it is a safe choice either way. I took Niel's advice and reserved both stones, now I will have a link to the light performance video for everyone to enjoy soon.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, I knew I could count all you :wavey:

Oh great!

But what about the halo? Is she dead set on that or would you be able to forgo a halo and upgrade that down the line?
