As the title suggests, I am in the market for a 1.5ct super-ideal princess cut diamond. From a bit of reading, I have come down to what I believe are some of the best options for optical performance:

1) http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3329699.htm?source=pricescope

2) http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3633664.htm?source=pricescope

3) http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.507-g-vs2-princess-diamond-ags-104084753001

I'm trying to keep my budget under 12.5k (wire price). I'm concerned about Whiteflash stone 1 the ASET seems to be pretty different from other super ideals I have seen (less red/brightness, more green, but nicely balanced and congruent). Whiteflash stone 2 is good but does not have the same crown height as stone 1 and stone 3 but the ASET is more in line with what I expected. Stone 3 is obviously the most expensive and caps out my budget, also not sure how obvious the imperfection is on this stone. Obviously, it's a magnified view on the posting, but the imperfections look very obvious and I'm wondering if it's a pretty weak VS2 grading.

I'm open to any suggestions for other super-ideal stones or weighing in on these 3 stones specifically on what would perform the best optically. It's just so much harder to purchase online for princess cut than rounds. Appreciate the forums expertise! Thanks!

There's really nothing super ideal about those stones. Princesses aren't like rounds where there is hearts and arrows and so forth. All you want is excellent light performance and nice spread.

Especially since princesses suck when it comes to spread in general, I'd want to get the most bang for my buck. This princess gives you all of that:
https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Princess/GIA-Certified-1-72-Carat-F-Color-VS1-Clarity-Diamond-3UZP69 (the clear background on the ASET and idealscopes is the reason for the difference you see, this is comparable to the WF and BGD stones).
And so does this one also is bigger by a nice amount:

DIMENSIONS not weight matter with princesses.

Gypsy,

Thanks for your posts. Somehow I was under the impression that to get the highest cut quality princess diamonds I should opt for these "superideal" marketed stones. It appears that you are telling me that is not the case. I'm clearly lost on what I should be pursuing.

I was also under the impression that I should look for higher crown heights for better optical performance.

I guess the short of it is, given my budget of around 10-12k, what is the highest quality cut princess stone I can afford that still offers best bang/buck? If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

The two I linked you to from ED give you those most bang, UNLESS you need a good upgrade policy. WF and BGD both have better upgrade policies than ED.
