Hey all,

Been reading these pages for awhile and am in the market to buy a ring for the engagement. I feel I've done my research and just want to ask some intelligent questions and see if I'm missing anything.

Here is the data:

Measurements: 7.06 - 7.12 x 4.27 mm
Carat Weight: 1.30 carat
Color Grade: I
Clarity: VS1
Cut Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: Very Strong Blue (hoping to help with the I color)

Depth: 60.2%
Table: 57%
Crown: 33.8 degrees
Pavillion: 40.8 degrees
Cutlet: none
HCA: 0.8

I asked the gemotologist about the fluorescence and he said, "Due to strong fluorescence, the diamond appears little bluish in color." Also asked about the 'milkiness' of the diamond but didn't mention anything about it. Any thoughts on this, I feel like this is a really good price and don't want it to be 'too good to be true'.

Does the 'bluish color' worry anyone because it seems unlikely that it is that blue.

I don't see any milkiness....Why do you think it's too good to be true?? The ideal scope looks ok, but weird because they're normally red...What vendor are you using?

B2Cjewels.com

And the price seems relatively low (compared to other gems that size. Wonder if it is the fluorescence.

The ideal-scope has a little light leaking in somewhere, but the cut is nice.

Ask the gemo is it petrolish when right next to a regular grading lamp tube (not an LED).
if it is slightly blueish up next to the tube it may be a problem and I would have it sent to one of our reputable appraisers and pay the money for an independant opinion.
is it blueish in shaded daylight?

Garry, enough light to turn it down because of loss of brilliance/fire?

I'm not familiar with what petrolish is? Can you explain so that I can ask the gemologist with a little clarity?

the stone is not leaking, there is extaranous light sneaking in between diamond and IS lens

Petrolish=oily in American english.

Looks like a decent stone

The gemologist said that it is not oily. I went ahead and bought the diamond since the company has a good return policy. I will have it independently appraised.

The diamond has "very strong fluorescence" according to the GIA report, so I will be interested to see if I enjoy the affect in the daylight. I know some love it, so only seeing it in person will help to see it.

sorry, the rest of the world knows what petrol is, but in USA it = gasoline.
its the effect when you mix whiskey and water.

I also received pictures like yours that were difficult to decipher.- see here
It was because of those poor pictures that I decided not to buy from B2C.

What does it mean on the GIA report when it says that the girdle is FACETED?
The inclusions seem nicely positioned

I wish I had found that diamond because I would have bought it specifically because of the VS flo
$6,400 seems like a nice price for the diamond!

I was looking at this diamond - which went up in price about $400 over the last week

Any particular reason you are looking at an IF clarity? If you are willing to sacrifice even a little on this, you could get a bigger diamond.

I wasn't looking for an IF
I was looking for VS fluorescence and the IF popped up and it had an HCA of 1.5.

When I was buying I could not fund anything with better specs

BUT - now I can tell the GF that the diamond is flawless just like she is
yadda yadda yadda
