Looking for a 1.0-1.2 Oval for an engagement ring... found two examples I really like:

https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...MONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&action=sameTab
https://www.augustvintageinc.net/co...ucts/1-01ct-e-vs2-august-vintage-oval-1220530

The 2nd is one from August Vintage. I heard they have some kind of new cut for Ovals? Does it make a difference and is it worth exclusively shopping for?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hard to say if the new AV ovals are worth exclusively shopping for, since that depends on your budget and preferences. But if it were me, I would buy one of the new Elyniqie ovals if I could afford it and one was available wirh my preferred specs.
Like this one:

Looks like it's in your budget and size / color range.

That stone is beautiful... what are the differences between the Elyniqie and AV oval?

I believe @Rhino refined the cut, making it meet AGS 0 cut score (the AV is a 1, I think). So pretty sure he just made the cut better. But others can correct me if I'm wrong. There should be info about it on his webpage.

Any way you could get both and compare at home? Send back the one you dont want?

The Elyque diamonds have great faceting and light return, but compare the face-up dimensions to a traditional oval. The Elyque pavilion is cut deeply, so the stone looks smaller than their carat weight.

For instance, your Blue Nile choice measures 8.23 x 5.46 x 3.50mm $6129/1.05ct
The AV Elyque diamond measures 7.20 x 5.11 x 4.07mm $6742/1.01ct

That’s a huge difference in how big each would look on your hand. There are beautiful traditional ovals; you have to search through a lot of bad ones.

Have a look at this one. 1.20ct, 8.57 x 5.68 x 3.69, E VS1, $6,719.

Elyque is the new branded name for the AV ovals that were previously called Opulence. I have one and I love it. They face up smaller than traditional ovals, but if you want great light return and no bow tie, they are the way to go. His lab ovals are not cut this way.

That’s true, Starfacet. However, some of them do have a bit of north/west bow tie. Many, many traditional ovals have a prominent east/west bowtie. I’ve worn a g VS1 3.05 for 30 years. Private jeweler found it for me when I knew nothing about ovals. It’s blinding in WalMart and Tractor Supply . So I’m partial to helping find good ovals when someone asks. But ALL elongated shapes need to be evaluated by eye, preferably outside under dappled sun.

Love that stone... I was wondering would the flouresence play a factor? I noticed it is "medium blue" on the GIA cert... with an E color will it be visibly blue?

Not at all. Fluor only shows up under specific types of light (e.g. blacklight or similar). You won't see it on a day-to-day basis. There are some people who are nervous about fluor, but it's largely unfounded. *Some* stones with strong blue fluor can look milky, but it won't be the case here because 1) Rhino is way too carful for that, and 2) it's medium fluor.

i have medium blue flouro in my G color oval, and I LOVE it. It looks really cool in the sunlight. Very icy!!
