A pair of pink star sapphires to be sent over from Mogok! Trader's photo.

Can't wait :)

Those are a bunch of stars pending the end stagger of cutting and polishing.

Those are so pretty, almost delicious! I think you may be the first on the thread to have pink/red stars in a pair. No easy task to find them, never mind afford them. Please share pics when they arrive!

Do show the lavender stone! Which one is it?
I chose the stone in the mount. I had three to pick from and I liked this one the most. I finally got a picture that is kind of true to color. I like that it is a grey lavender. It is basically the only color I own.

I cannot wait to see what you do with those rubies!

BG, post, post away. I could look at that sapphire all day!

I love the lavender with a tinge of grey. It has a very otherworldly ethereal look, in a good way!!!

Here are my star stones. The pink one is a star rose quartz and the others are all star sapphires. In the second last photo I only now own the purple star sapphire in the middle (the hot pinkish red one on it's right is a spinel with a tiny bit of asterism) I love them all. I would love a massive star sapphire someday! Let me know if you find a big one that is not crazy expensive Blugemz!

We need a star stone gtg! A colour change gtg would be so much fun too! I bought these unheated sapphires from ebay in 2013 and had them set by Sally. I am so glad you started this thread because it is making me appreciate these rings more. Here are pics from my old thread on them.

Just love this look! Today, I wanted to wear moonlight jelly, but I’m at a conference and so just brought my star rose quartz bead bracelet for ‘star’ energy...... I’ll try to add a decent picture later.

I got shy for some reason lol! I would love a smaller blue or pink or lavender star ring...because I love the star energy For all occasions and moods. Regarding sizes, it feels almost like choosing to wear a high heel or a flat shoe .

I couldn’t capture the stars well, so I’m including the sellers picture with a torch light or something like that. In daylight, With the right light/angle, the stars light up in this bracelet. Would love love love a star rose quartz ring to go with it someday!
Now I’m definitely inspired to wear the star sapphires tomorrow!

I need help here...(Actually I need help everywhere:twisted2:) but in this instance I'm looking at a star from Brad at The Gem Trader. Since this thread is the reason I'm even considering it I feel you guys OWE me some help:lol: Haha.
So pretty please tell me what you think?
2.6ct Burmese Star sapphire.
star sapphire.gif star sapphire1.gif

Brad, who has a way with words, describes it:
"There are few gem materials capable of such intriguing beauty as star corundum in its finest grades. And while it is true that blue star sapphire and star ruby do get the most attention, we love to find those in the somewhat more unusual 'fancy' sapphire category. There are some lovely pastels, violet and lavender shades that look great against the asterism. Beyond this we occasionally see some yellows or even true white star Sapphires. There are plenty of very light grayish-blue stones, but a gem that faces up essentially white with a white star is special indeed. This lovely Burmese gem is just such a stone - fully transparent, the gem is clean and lustrous even without direct lighting. Add that in however, and you get a lovely, somewhat ethereal white star against a white background. Really one of the most successful examples of this difficult color variety that we have ever seen."

I trust Brad's judgement, but I don't trust my own. The price is $250/ct, Total $650. I have it reserved and will probably get it sometime this week.

Thanks for any and all advice.

Edit: I wanna be star sister too!! and go to the star gtg!!

I think it has a soft beauty. I love the purity of the white on white. I agree with Brad that this combination, white on white, is rare and difficult to find in a successful example...in which so many factors are working together. The star has a just enough silk for a good star, but not so much that translucency is lost. The star is well centered, and I think the shape is appealing. color seems even, and it has a wonderful, gemmy glow. Reminds me of an early Spring morning with both the softness of petals against a frozen, misty sky. It’s truly a dreamy stone.....has a soul. For me, I judge stars on whether I can feel a ‘soul’ in the stone. Some have enough personality that they really are like a completely individual, little spirit. I’m definitely feeling that with this one.
I’m so curious, would it go into a ring? Welcome star sister!

Thanks @Bluegemz for your evaluation and your kind welcome. I'm not sure if it will be a ring or a pendant. I hadn't even thought that far! It's not very big...just the right size for a starter star ring? I think when it comes it will tell me what it wants to be.
The only star I've ever really looked at was in a ring my Dad used to wear. Big grey stone in heavy 18k gold. So this one will be a new world for me. You ladies have sent me on a jade hunt and now a star sapphire hunt. Very exciting!

So exciting! When you get it, you will likely be able to better feel how it should be worn/set!
