I love love love it, whitby. Beautiful!

thank you, ladies! what a nice bunch you all are :)

SaraP – thank you for the lovely compliment. I designed this ring myself, so the insults cut particularly deep. So thank you particularly for the compliments to my taste – be in incredible or impeccable! (made me chuckle)

Danielle – good point! Why is it that we all take things so personally when it’s something that applies to US? If it were anyone else, I’d know it was just sour grapes.

Thanks k9muttlover – will pass that compliment on to my husband ☺

VRBeauty – good suggestions – thanks! I’m really warmed by the number of people who have suggested I keep it in tact. I would say over the years, I have had as many negative comments about this ring as positive ones. In Australia, tho, large rings are NOT the norm, so there’s quite a bit of disapproval (I’ve found!) if your ring is over a certain size.

LovingDiamonds…’high class’… am basking in this comment! :D

Ericad – the photos of the back of the ring are specifically for you – I thought you might like to see them. The ring was made about 15 years ago, but the center stone is about 75 -80 yrs old. I used to collect Victorian jewelry, so I’d say that collection inspired this ring….

Chiquitapet – thank you for that universal support. That’s what I just love about the PS ladies!

Tsavvy – am hoping to get back into shape sufficiently to wear it on my hand! I hurt my back quite badly about 4 years ago and spent a long time in bed (a full year) recuperating (am fine now). I gained a lot of weight – but am hoping to get back into the swing of things now that I feel better.

Thanks D&T – am practicing saying ‘blah!’ to all negative comments! ☺

Thanks MissGotRocks – I think I will now. Just needed a little encouragement.

Whitby - your ring rocks! pardon the pun! hehe! I love it! So unique too, I''ve never seen any ring like it before! Wear it in good health and happiness!

Crazy and distasteful people would call your beautiful ring cheap looking. Whitby, your ring is gorgeous! I love how it picked up the greenery in the background. Very special ring.

Oh my gosh, Whitby - your ring is just GORGEOUS!!!!! I''m in love with the antique style, and that center stone - WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gorgeous!

Cheap???? Give me a break. It''s stunning. Anyone with the nerve to say that is either blind or stupid. They are certainly rude as can be, as well.

It''s a real beauty. I like it. People can be so rude sometimes.

Cheap shmeap, some people are SO ignorant.

I''d give my eye teeth to own something like that!!

Lucky girl!

Whitby, my Sista, your ring is one of my most favorites and I would be honored to own such a BEAUTIFUL ring! This is truly an amazing piece and I hope you will get it resized and wear it in the best of health.....ignore any negativity aimed at this ring....why can''t people just keep their mouths shut?

This ring has special meaning and to know that you designed it is AWESOME!!! GO GIRL!!!

Keep your chin up and don''t let them get you down...no matter what!

Thank you for asking about me. I''m not feeling very well right now and I''m fighting an infection, but I''m keeping the faith.

Big hugs,

Lori

I think your ring is lovely and even if a ring is not my taste, that doesn''t make t cheap. That''s just plain rude telling someone that. If you like your ring, then that is all that matters and you can wear it with pride!

So pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this ring is phenomenal!!! I have a pair of cheap earrings with the same design, and let me tell you...yours is FAR from looking cheap! I love the "green" shot and the inside shot with the colors. I think it''s a lovely piece and if I were you, I''d wear it on my pinky until it fit properly again. There''s no reason for that beauty to be sitting in a box.

Icekid – thank you for your kind words

Lol shopaholic – thanks!

Thanks tigian – I love that greenery shot also :)

Thanks LaurenTP. I started off loving that old center stone, then as time passed, I liked it less – due mainly, I think, to the response of others. But now I’m right back loving it again!

And thank you laurenF5 :)

Thank you KaeKae. It amazes me what people think it’s ok to say. I prefer what you said!

Thanks marcyc – you’re always so friendly in what you say!

Thanks for your kind words sista-lori – you know I love your collection. (and covet about half of it outrageously!) your comments count with me. :)

Thanks DandiAndi. You know, I kind of always felt insulted for my husband, tim, (who is the nicest man alive) when people would insult my ring. Thankfully no-one ever said anything negative to his face – just to mine. I am, however, taking all these compliments as a compliment to him and passing them along. The day before yesterday I asked him if he was proud of giving me such a lovely ring – which is something I’d never considered before. He smiled kinda shyly and nodded. Made me wanna go round to each of those people who had said something mean and, as ericad suggested, bop them on the nose with my ring and say “Feel cheap now??”

Thanks cravingdiamonds. you’re right – some people cant differentiate between “this is not to my taste” and “this is innately horrible” – and there IS a difference!

Thanks princessplease :)

And thank you somethingshiny! I do wear this ring on my pinky if I wear it at all. I just haven’t worn it very often. When I first got it, I wore it every day (some of you may have read that the stone from my original e-ring, which was my deceased mother’s, was stolen by the jeweler we took it to for setting. Consequently, this 10 yr anniversary ring was the only e-ring I had for many years). As time passed, I stopped wearing it, believing it to be gaudy and trashy in a way which I couldn’t see but which others clearly could. But I’d still wear it occasionally on my pinky if I went somewhere special, or if I just wanted to enjoy it in private. But now I’m thinking, as one of the ladies here says on her PS signature –

I’m gonna take out my inner Liz Taylor and rock it!

I think it is absolutely beautiful. I can''t imagine people saying otherwise. How rude

People amaze me sometimes the things they come out and say. No manners whatsoever. I would treasure that ring forever.

Ohmigosh! This ring is STUNNING!!! How could anyone think less? I love it Whitby, I really do!

thanks linda and dana :)

since first putting up photos here, i''ve decided not to dismantle it, but am going to keep it in the shape it is. i think putting up photos and getting some feedback from the ladies here was like my last reality check before pulling it apart. i was pretty set on that course, but something just said "maybe get some more opinions..." i''m really glad i did and will now limit myself to fiddling around with the diamond studs that i already have.

thanks for your input!

Dear Whitby, I am also Australian. I agree with you about larger diamonds being unusual here, people think my 0.90 carat round on my ER is a "rock". Your ring is lovely though, and I think anyone who said it was cheap looking was plain jealous! It shoul d be worn rather than sit in a box, perhaps you could temporarily wear it as a pendent til you can wear it as a ring.

I should have read your other thread all the way through before posting!

I am so glad to see more pictures! I adore your ring and I can''t believe anyone would say it looks cheap! I think it is really special and you should leave it as-is and have earrings made to match.

I hope you don''t mind if I someday have a RHR made to look just like it, because it is going to the top of my inspiration folder!

thanks missoph :) yes, the standard in australia is very different to here in NY. the first 10 years that i owned this ring, i was living in australia, so by the time i move to NY i''d virtually stopped wearing this ring. i''m sort of wondering if i''ve just had bad luck with it, as i''ve worn it very rarely here, but from the few times i have worn it here i''ve received 2 comments. both comments were negative (one actually used the word ''trashy'' and the other person just flatly said she didn''t like it because it was "too much" - this said while wrinkling her nose!) so my run of luck with this ring has been almost oddly negative. i think in australia there''s a kind of negative mentality to having a ring larger than normal (tall poppy syndrome rearing its head perhaps?) but when i go home in august this year i think i''ll just throw caution to the wind and wave it proudly under everyone''s noses!

and fatafelice, i cant imagine any nicer compliment (or anything more unexpected, frankly!) than having someone copy, even loosely, this ring for something they had made for themselves. what a nice thing for you to say! thank you. :)

I love it; swooooooooooooooooooooon!!!

HUBBA HUBBA! That undergallery is just gorgeous! I''m so pleased that you are going to flaunt this ring the way it was meant to be flaunted!

seriously, that''s one fabulous ring. just gorgeous.

Gorgeous ring whitby!

Lol – thank you skipanie

Hi ericad – I’m so pleased you came back to have a look – I was hoping you might see the undergallery; the workmanship on this ring is what I have always liked about it the best.

Thanks jcrow – what a lovely thing to say! I’m really pleased I took the chance to put up photos of this ring; I’m thinking now that I must have just had a run of bad luck with the comments I received in previous years. Maybe now I’ve gotten all the negative opinions out of the way and it’ll be positive feedback from here on in! (or maybe I need to only show it to the PS ladies who know how to appreciate someone else’s jewelry!)

And thank you Kelli!
