Hey Ladies...thanks for remembering!
So I received an email from Rachael on Monday advising that my ring was ready to go as soon as they receive the final payment. I asked for a picture of the completed ring and received that on Wednesday......and.....my heart dropped into my stomach.
Here is the picture they sent me....beautiful, yes, but not what I wanted.I thought she sent me a picture of the wrong ring but nope, this is mine.
Yup, it was meant to be like Leon''s oval sapphire but with a 2 row halo instead of a 3 row. I think he may have confused my order with another when drawing up the work since the pictures I sent him were very specific and his own drawing showed the correct shank. I used a picture of Harriet''s spinel to illustrate the size of melee I liked so perhaps that is where the split shank idea came from - I NEVER ever said I wanted a split shank, in fact, the photo collage I sent said I didn''t want one!
Oy Vey!
I hestitated in posting my experience because I know many people are leery of doing custom work with a long distance vendor....especially one who will not provide a drawing and one with a bit of a reputation if you know what I mean!
My experience with Leon has been great, he''s been friendly and professional through the whole process. I was totally freaked when I saw the picture. I figured I''d need pay for a custom ring that wasn''t at all what I wanted but we had a great telephone conversation on Friday - he admits that something went wrong in the communication process and he will remake the ring for me. Whew...what a relief!
I would still recommend Leon without hesitation but I would have the work order reflect the specifics in lay terms as well as his technical terminology (shank to be the same as 1-0054, etc.). According to him, the description on the work order matches the ring he produced but the wording was complex enough that it wasn''t clear to me that''s what I was getting!
Here is the photo collage that I sent to him - I think it clearly illustrated what I wanted....
Thanks Gailey....did you see the claws?? Those are pretty sweet!Date: 8/15/2009 8:49:25 PM

Diana, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I have to admit I did wonder if all was well in paradise. I'm pleased to hear that Leon is going to re-make the ring for you. I am sure it will be worth waiting for. If it's any consolation to you, the ring he did produce looks magnificent, so I have no doubt that when you finally get your ring it will be equally magnificent.
No-one is above making a mistake. The trick is to learn from those mistakes and put in place procedures that will prevent the same mistake from happening again. And the honourable thing is to face up to the mistake and to put it right.
Thank you for posting your experience. It is a nerve wracking process to deal with a long distance vendor. Especially when you are on opposing sides of the pond or the 49th parallel.
Hugs honey.

I don''t want anyone to feel too sorry for me though, my new James Meyer ring (1.74 K VS2 Brian Gavin!) arrived today and I am in LOVE!! And I''m BROKE!
ETA - Jim Meyer is fantabulous to work with - no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him. He''s working on a pendant design for my Peter Torraca peridot, can''t wait to see what he comes up with.
