She's positively gorgeous! Do your natural light photos often look this warm/yellow? Mine are always so blue/cool, which sucks the life out of everything but, well, blue stones!![]()
This is the only thing I don't understand about you. How can you dislike silk? Silk maketh ruby! And all corundum really. Silk is queen! Everything is better with silk. You are in possession of one of the most spectacular and perfect rubies I've seen on this board, and you dislike one of the attributes that make it so perfect! Why, woman? Why?![]()
Ah, good point @Autumn in New England , that’s an old picture that captured the color nicely, not sure what the red/warm shades on the white cotton are, maybe a reflection of what I was wearing![]()
I would love to have a sizable star Ruby, and it does not exist without silks.
I am done with red stones now that I have a 2ct+ Chatham Ruby waiting in the wings with Jeff W with one more ring in mind.

No help from me but loving the eye candy in this thread.
I’m amazing at how much credence so many people apply to current “AI” tech given how monstrously ill-informed and random its outputs are. I guess the massive cultural campaign about its genius is working. I do think it’s worth reminding everyone that not only are its outputs useless in most cases, but its use is ruining the environment too. Pretty costly little “toy” contributing to the downfall of humanity IMO!
I think many of us are concerned about the potential consequences, Dreamer.Plus, I am a 90's baby. The terror inflicted upon us by Skynet is irreparable.
Yes has everyone forgotten the lessons taught by cannon sci-fi??
My post wasn’t meant to admonish people in this thread so much as the silent readers now and in the future! And maybe some people I’ve met in person too. I remember one dinner with an acquaintance just singing the praises of this tech and how brilliant it is and I wanted to despair. We are still trying to figure out how to adapt to it in academia.

Just me in this thread, and I have to repent of that sin of over-trusting AI in gemological evaluation.
Okay some more videos of the 1.02ct ruby without extra lighting, looks better than the last batch.
I forgot what shape you said it will be, DK? It's going to be interesting to see a perfect, sparkling ruby.
It will be a pear and I shall have my own Chaumet inspired Josephine ring.

The one thing that gives me pause is that the vendor will only accept an exchange.
Eeeeexcuse me, what? For 12k? Some businesses have no respect for consumer rights... An online purchase should always be returnable and refundable.
Ah is that what they call it?! I've been referring to that style as a pear chevron. lol It will be gorgeous! Are you using natural or lab diamonds?
Hey we're always looking for new tools to help us evaluate gems, right?!
We've already discussed the window, so I'm going to put that aside. I absolutely love the color and clarity!! You might want to get it home to see in person. The one thing that gives me pause is that the vendor will only accept an exchange. If you're cool with that, then by all means, proceed. For me, I'd don't like feeling bound by any particular seller. How do you feel about it? If this stone doesn't work out, do you have confidence he'll be able to find what you want while staying on budget?

@Sydneyphoenix buying a 12k 1ct ruby without refund possible is a no-go. I didn’t see that earlier, else I would have mentioned it right away.
That’s too big a gamble
This is stunning! I know I've seen you share him (her?) before, but please tell me more, if you don't mind.![]()
Wee ruby came with pancake Ruby as well lots of sisters, cousins and friends from the gem haul.
Wee one is 1.13 carats (pancake is 1.68 carats) and both presumed to be unheated Mogok ruby. No certification so far. I’m not comfortable posting it anywhere with our crazy and unpredictable customs environment (the fiasco with the “bio hazard” lab diamond was stressful enough). So I have to go personally to Bangkok to use Lotus Gemology. I’ll get there eventually.
Pancake Ruby was/is being set into a ring (another fiasco, sigh) because the preferred work bench is really busy and behind. I have got the fixed watch conversion back though.

Okay the vendor agreed to a refund OR store credit if I tell him within 24 hours after receiving the 1.02ct ruby, with the purchase subject to satisfactory GRS and GIA certifications.
