I came across this boulder: http://www.palagems.com/php/db_search.php?action=gemdetail&inventory_number=14982 104.76 carats and NO treatment. Wasn't someone looking for a yellow sapphire recently?

This one's a more reasonable size: http://www.palagems.com/php/db_search.php?action=gemdetail&inventory_number=14353

My desk would look lovely with that paper weight on it

I can''t imagine how such a large stone would be (attractively!) worn.

Neither can I. I posted it because I find it a gemmological curiosity due to its size and natural colour.

A very expensive paperweight. I''m sure some royalty will be able to mount it somehow.

Sceptre.

I pity the person who gets hit as I swing the scepter around in an effort to admire the sapphire.

Gosh, you''re in a violent mood today.

Very pretty. I would chip even the "reasonable sized" one in 1 day. I am such a klutz.

But it''s corundum!

But not indestructable. I''ve been reading about too many chipped diamonds on RT this week.

True, although corundum has no cleavage, unlike diamond.

I like this one :) I like small sized gems :)

yellow gemmy

Thats a nice one. There is yellow R Homer sapphire on the Richard Wise site that I love. Yellow sapphires just are not my priority right now.

That is why I love sapphires, I can wear them to work and not worry as much. Next year, I want to get ruby or a pink sapphire ;-)

I saw some stunning pinks today!

Thank goodness too.

I choked on my food.

You did some window shopping??? Pinks have become my new love.

Yes. I needed a jewellery fix (South Beach has an unusual aesthetic, shall we say?). So, I went to Bal Harbour and spent some time at Graff. There''s someone there who''s nuts about gems too.

It is a nice place to see fancy cars on the street, not so much for jewelry.

It is a nice place to see weirdness. There''s a local character named "Buckley." He wears overalls and cycles around with his rooster, "Clucky."

That too, it doesn''t really feel like you are in the US when you are there (from what little I know, I don''t have much travel experience abroad). Have you gone out at night yet?

To eat, yes. For clubbing, no. I avoid Ocean Drive.

I went clubbing my last night there, it was fun. Of course, I knew where to go and got VIP passes ;-).

Do you think you will go to Palm Beach? There are a ton of colored stones there, I am sure if you ask, they will have loose ones in the back. My local jeweler only has set stones out, but he has a ton of loose ones sitting in the safe. Speaking of pinks, I still remember this killer 4 ct pink sapphire at Cartier in Palm Beach. It had a little diamond halo around it. The color was to die for.

Ooh.

I don''t know. Any idea how far away it is?

1 hr and 20 minutes. All of the big guys are there and than some competitors, they are all on Worth Ave.
