I'll play! :))

Beloved became Beloved x 3 and got 2.25ctw H VS1 ACA sides.

IMG_1889.jpg

IMG_1686.jpg

IMG_1456.jpg

I got my gorgeous Southern Cross locket - 18kt with .8ctw of diamonds and the locket that I turn to when homesick for Australia (often).

IMG_1551.jpg

IMG_1552.jpg

My beautiful silver, enamel and AVR locket (granted - only posted yesterday for the first time, but actually received before Christmas)

IMG_2439.jpg

IMG_2448.jpg

Two beautiful rings - a 20kt, heavy, 4.2mm plain band, and an eternity (made from what was originally an anniversary band) - in 18kt yellow gold with lovely, colorless diamonds. I love this combo and wear one or both of them all the time.

IMG_2373.jpg

IMG_2372.jpg

And some wonderful hoops that I can wear 24/7, as they're 'infinity' hoops and can spin 360 degrees in the ear with nothing to catch my skin or stick into my ear or neck or catch on my hair when I'm sleeping. 18kt and solid.

Screen Shot 2022-10-18 at 4.53.59 PM.png

IMG_2028.jpg

I got some peridots from Finewater Gems, a paperclip chain from someone on Etsy, and a pink sapphire eternity band, bought from @springerspaniel.

20220513_180836.jpg

20220524_165200.jpg

20220403_205339.jpg

And I had a major budget blowout on my floral diamond studs - colorless, eye clean, ideal cut diamonds in platinum - roughly 5.1ctw - which finish off my my cluster set.

20220408_115412.jpg

Next (or previously, because I'm working backwards), I halo'd my 1.5ctw OECs, which I wear with all my pearl drops.

But best of all, and beyond comparison, I got *this* jewel - my daughter, who I adopted in July. <3

Big, BIG, BIG year!

This year Beloved became a 3 stone to end all 3 stones. And I agree @mrs-b . Your daughter is the most precious jewel of all.

So for me, it was the year of the pendants and necklaces, evidently. My favorite of my collection is the snake, but I’m also in love with the crescent I acquired and a beautiful Victorian locket. I also got two Victorian chains and one has two big bolt rings which I just love. Probably the biggest thing is this beautiful French band that I bought from another PSer. I also got a gypsy ring. Not pictured are some bands - I can’t find them on my camera roll and I don’t feel like taking them out right now! But as others have said, I definitely bought more than I thought I would!

Wonderful acquisitions @Mreader. That French cut band tho…

The past two years have been riddled with difficult events that my family and I had to overcome. But jewellery continues to bring me great comfort, so here are the 2022 new additions that bring me much joy...

20230117_233254.jpg
- 2 dainty rose gold necklaces with diamonds
- 3 pairs of yellow gold hoops in total, one with gypsy set scattered diamonds, one in the shape of stars and one with a cuban curb link design and set with baguette diamonds
- a pair of white gold hoops with dangly diamond spikes
- 3 pairs of yellow gold earring charms in ruby, sapphire and emeralds
- 2 diamond eternity bands - a pave one and shared prong one
- a fancy purplish pink diamond bezelled band
- a preloved Hermes rose gold CDC bangle that was a steal!
- and finally, my favourite of them all, a heart-shaped diamond eternity band that I have been eyeing for a long time and finally bought to pamper myself for a difficult year. Here are additional photos of it with my e-ring and a close-up shot of it on its own...

Pic 1 — I have a 5.5 mm earth grown AVR and a 6.7 mm lab grown AVR and was considering upgrading to a larger lab grown AVR. But I don’t tend to wear larger stones. So I got a moissanite 7.5 mm tester ring off of Etsy. Sure enough, too big for my tastes. Instead of upgrading my lab grown AVR, I got an earth grown 6.0 mm AVR in a white gold setting. Disaster struck… too many AVRs, not enough fingers, so I ended up buying another 5.5 mm earth grown AVR and setting all three earth grown AVRs into a 3-stone white gold ring. Still have my 6.7 mm lab grown AVR to wear as a middle finger ring.

Pic 2 — Got some unique pendants. Grey emerald cut diamond with treated blue halo, black rhodium plated gold setting. A hexagon portrait cut in a spinning gold bezel (probably the coolest piece I’ll ever own). Six triangle rose cuts in a gold hexagon mosaic. And a decluttereset made out of a stones from a princess cut solitaire, two peridot earrings, a cultured pearl, and a topaz pendant all set in gold, on my mother’s faux pearl wedding bracelet that was restrung into a necklace.

D7F4440D-664A-40E5-8855-D4CFFD74DE7A.jpeg

Pic 3 — Fashion rings. Pink emerald cut with halo of black rounds and pink rose cuts set in sterling silver. Concocted from parts sold off of Etsy so who knows what all magical treatments apply. A super sweet rose cut with baguettes in a white gold setting. A grey salt and pepper rose cut in silver. And an awesome pink LGD that has purplish undertones and flashes blue fire, set in white gold.

Pic 4 — I’m so happy I got to cross this bracelet off my bucket list! 14k gold, 2mm bangle. Haven’t taken it off yet. A LGD with enough metallic inclusions to make it look grey, set in a black rhodium plated setting and placed on a black stainless steel chain. Lastly, a moissanite rose cut bezel pendant.

Fun year. Some things were great quality, some were meh, lots of unexpected things ended up being awesome, and all are wearable.

I'm so sorry that you have had a difficult time recently and it's wonderful that you can get some comfort from beautiful things.
I absolutely LOVE your heart band! I am always looking for one myself actually.
Also that your ER is a heart makes it even more special!

I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's new additions. Here's mine, a 3.51 N OEC in a David Klass setting, purchased from CHRISTY-DANIELLE.

Sooooo beautiful and so nice to see this ring again! Thrilled it’s still in the PS family! When I first started on PS, this ring and the VC from @LLJsmom were the two that got me gaga over oecs!

2022 was a hard, crappy year overall.

I did buy things and some I regret. Here is what I did.

PXL_20230120_155649898.jpg

Top to bottom.

Suzanne Kalan sapphire, emerald and diamond eternity. My almost 16 year old dog died Christmas Eve and this band is my memorial ring for him. Everything represents a color of an item Charlie loved.

Yellow gold deco orange blossom band. $125!

Deco platinum eternity, 1cttw from Badis Jewelry.

French cut eternity band which has been passed around a lot here.

White gold new old stock orange blossom band from an IG seller. Pretty reasonable price.

Reshanked an old baguette and added new engraving.

I don't regret the bands.

PXL_20230120_160239095.jpg

1.4 ctww Victorian five stone. Pretty stones but I regret this. I was doing I feel bad about things buying.

Second hand CvB Acacia setting with a 2.6 modern round. I like this one.

PXL_20230120_160021289.jpg

Victorian sapphire and diamond bangle from Gilded Lane. Bought for a special occasion. Bad photo.

PXL_20230120_154949808.jpg

Little H tahitian and black diamond grotto earrings. Pretty, but I regret these because I live a boring life that doesn't call for them.

IMG_20230120_104125_821.jpg

Pearls. I wear these apart from the necklace. I should have known better. I don't really do necklaces. Tahitian eggplant studs and gold SS studs. Akoya necklace.

PXL_20230120_155344084.jpg

PXL_20230120_155417092.jpg

More earrings.

Mabe studs that are lovely for $120! I wear those. Coral studs for $120 as well. Little H diamond and tahitian studs and jackets. Sako Victorian diamond component earrings. Big earrings. I think about 5 something carats. I bought the components before 2022 but only had posts added this year. I have never worn them. I put those in the regret camp. Beautiful, but impractical.

A terrible photo of Little H sapphire grotto earrings on the right. These are fun but are not something I really wear.

This is a new setting. I had the stones. I think it counts. It's really pretty but I don't wear it much. I don't regret it, because I owned the stones for a number of years and I combined them, but I definitely don't wear it.

The things I like the best are actually the cheaper items, to be honest!

Wow, those are all stunning pieces. Those earrings are TDF and one could even be converted to a ring! They are so big and beautiful. I’m sorry that some fall into the regret camp (though again they are gorgeous so hope your feelings could change!) but we have all been there. I’m very envious of the $125 band. I love bands like that and it’s so nice when you find a good score.

Eta - I love that setting with the MRB. And that other ring that you say you regret should not be hard to unload if you wanted to.

Thanks - you are right on the items.

This year was rough the whole way. My husband voluntarily quit his job in December 2021, during his last year of the doctorate program. He thought he could get another job that was similar in pay quickly and wanted a break to finish his dissertation. Well.... He now finally has a job lined up to start in February 2023 (earning significantly less but it's something!) but for over a year, we have been a one income household, including his teenage son. It's been super stressful and we have argued more than ever before. Right or wrong, I also do all housework and cooking, etc. All that, plus my job (which is high stress and usually around 60 hours a week as a base), being sick a lot and working through it, and then Charlie dying Christmas Eve, it was a tough year. I bought some things, like the five stone with the idea it would make me feel better. It didn't - it was a shiny object for like 30 minutes and then I put it away. I learned this year that buying jewelry really doesn't make me happy though. It's not a pick me up anymore unless it's a cheap and cheerful find that is a bargain. I regret the ones that were not cheap and cheerful. I don't regret the memorial band- it's comforting - and I wear all the bands. Those were not the "I feel like crap" attempts to make things feel nicer.

The earrings are huge and beautiful. I love big earrings. They just feel very loud and shiny with all diamond. I will probably let them sit rather than sell at this point because I have been making decisions based on emotions, not logic, at times.

I have big pave flower earrings with a coral in the center that are similar in size and those are much more wearable than all diamond! If the center was a lapis, or another stone, I'd probably think differently about them.

Thanks! The three stone is a beautiful ring. I just find it to be "extra" now. I have been honestly just wearing bands or a smaller look that is more delicate lately. At some point, I will likely wear it. I was glad to use up all my stones in pieces I did not wear anymore. I love the stones and the design, but when I go to wear it, it just feels too big/too much? I used to want a stone that was larger before, 4.5 plus in an old cut, but I am not in the same head space anymore! The center is 2.34 and sides are.90ish. I had bought a 10mm and 11mm tester CZ for size on the big stone idea and found out I actually wasn't interested after I did that.

@elizat that sounds very rough and I'm so sorry. I also just get testy when I hear that women often default to being the cleaners and caregivers no matter what their job/schedule is and it is accepted as par for the course. If a man does something similar, he is revered or thrown a parade. :roll2:
