I would like to look into selling my original diamond ring but unfortunately I have no certification or knowledge of its quality & worth.
Is there someone in the NY/NJ area that is trustworthy who can advise me on this? And whom I can sell to?

Just to give a basic idea

Hi!! You are from my neck of the woods! :D He's a bit pricy, but i cant say enough good things about Barry Block of Jewelry Judge. Hes GIA certified. I think hes in Staten Island?
Edit: nope hes' in Carle Place, NY.

If you are looking for an appraiser, I really like David Wolf at Just Appraisers in Manhattan. I believe he's a PS recommended appraiser as well.

I guess it gives you confidence about what you are listing and the buyer confidence in what they are buying?

Its good to know at least a bit about a stone before you try to sell it....otherwise you will tend to get low ball offers. Do you have any paperwork, even approximates like a color range or carat weight?

unfortunately not. it was my original e-ring and i never received any information with it.
now that i upgraded, i am thinking about selling but i have no idea if it's even worth anything.

Ok, I wouldnt take to an appraiser, then, if it were me. Id just go to a local jeweler that does appraisals and tell them what you said above. Hopefully they can give you at least some approximate #s and a resale value, and hopefully they dont charge you a for a full appraisal. Good luck!
