Hello everyone, I am new

First, you have no idea how delighted I am to stumble across this website. I think It is Brilliant and opened to me a world I never imagined existed in the world of diamond.

I am in the UK and am looking for solitair stud earrings for my beloved wife, as a 10th anniversary present.

I have looked through the reputable vendors and decided to use BlueNile which happens to have a UK site as well.

I have a budget of £1000 ($2000) for the earrings, so I am aiming for between .75ct to .95ct range (In total) depending on specs ofcourse. I am looking for the right compromise between clarity & colour, but for an Ideal cut with ideal polish & Symetry.

Could someone of you pros let me kow which of the following would you choose? Or if there are better value alternatives, I will gladly consider them as long as they are within my budget. You will notice that the prices are between £680 to £780 but by the time you add £140 for the setting and VAT at 17.5%, I will reach my budget of £1000.

Choice 1

Choice 2

Choice 3

Choice 4

Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Welcome!

With the first diamonds, they look good, but it would be best to check that the diamond with the cloud as the grade setter in an SI2, isn't having any negative effects from this, such as it possibly dulling the diamond.

They all look promising, I can't get to the grading report for the second diamond for the third set for some reason, could be me and not enough coffee though!

Thank you very much, I was not aware of the type of inclusions until you brouht it up. I will check the rest of them. Am I right in assuming that cloud inclusion is the worst type and that I Crystal, needle & feather inclusions would have less impact on light reflection?

Thanks

I think I got that the wrong way around, I can''t bring up the grading report for the first diamond of the third set, or anything for the 4th!! It is entirely possible I am missing something though with this!

Hi there!

Basically it depends with inclusions as to what are the most desirable or least, so you have to evaluate on a case by case basis. Clouds can be perfectly fine, it is just that I have learned here that in a lower clarity grade such as SI, if the cloud is the actual reason that a diamond was given the SI clarity grade ( grade making inclusion) that in some circumstances it can cause the diamond to look slightly cloudy, or to not sparkle as well as it should. This isn''t always the case, but it is worth mentioning that diamonds of SI clarity with a cloud as a grade setter, needs further evaluation by an expert as to whether there is an issue or not. It could be fine, but it bears mentioning to your vendor.

If you see '' clouds not shown'' on a grading report, these are just mentioned for the sake of completeness, as to map these on the grading report can make a diamond look far more included than it actually is. So if you see this remark in the comment''s section, no need to worry!
