Would You call my diamond too yellow...

I don't think your diamond is yellow. :) But as you said before... Finns are still rather uneducated when it comes to diamonds. Many times when diamond not hard white it's yellow to people as they don't know how else to describe it. The concept of cut as the most important factor in diamonds performance is still pretty much unheard of in here so people just aim for the "best" diamonds which in their minds means the highest colour and clarity possible.

I do think that times are changing here. I'm in the "marrying age" (24) and at least in my social group (young, university educated) larger diamonds and nice jewelry is becoming more and more popular. :wavey: They just need to be educated! :Up_to_something:

Based on the pics you've posted, I would call your diamond yellow from the side and vanilla from the top - vanilla to me is a pale tint of yellow. While a gorgeous stone, for me it is too yellow - but for many, many others, it is just right or not yellow enough.

See, very interesting! For me from the side it looks vanilla AT MOST and from the top looks stark white in these pics! But then, I'm easy on color lol.

This stone is too warm for me.

It's not a critique of a person - it's a personal preference about an inanimate object. I do see a yellow tint and would be bothered by this, if I had to look at it regularly, so I see where the possible buyer was coming from.

I prefer colors D/E/F, and sometimes G/H (depending upon the stone). I would never purchase a stone lower than H in color, as I've seen many of these stones and they just don't do it for me. Again, just personal preference.

Different strokes for different folks!

RockyRacoon; thanks for Your honest opinion, which I completly understand. As I'm YG girl forever, I can understand someone else can't stand it. It's just my preference. But I doubt You never ever even looked my stone or ask more of it, if seeing it been lower than Your preferences, right? But people here in PS seem to be well educated enough to avoid these sivustolla. (Still lioness  )

VRBeauty; You're right. It wasn't his stone. Just wonder if he knew it is top cape, L color, why bother even ask? Because it obviously wasn't what he was looking for. Secondly price for stone with higher color is 3xmy price here in Finland. All was front of him and he bother to ask anyway (I notice, I'm still lioness)

And I really love my stone. This was a test :D

In the end, all that matters is that YOU love it. I have a K color "very good" cut stone. I had my choice of 2 RBC stones at my jewelers. Same size. I took them outside, looked at them under the flourescent jeweler lights, and went in the back and looked at them in the bench area. They looked identical to me except that ONE had more personality, and threw off more rainbow colors. I chose that one.

Imagine my surprise when I found out it was the K, VG cut that I preferred over the G EX cut! Price difference? $13,500. Score! :appl: I'll be damned if I will pay $13,500 more for something I can't see....

Now that I know my preferences, I will most likely not go higher than a K in color from here on out. If I were to choose an OEC or an AVR I would choose even LOWER colors.

People here have VERY particular requirements for stones. Some will NEVER go below an excellent cut, some will never go below an F for color. Others are not so picky. You will get all KINDS of responses on this here.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what others think. If you love it, wear it. If you don't, sell it.

Sofian; You're genious :D where did You spend those 13000??? Another OEC???

You are absolutely right. If a potential buyer didn't like warmer stones, he should have not inquired about your offering. He is just wasting the time of both parties involved.

That being said, many people will prefer your stone to an icy white D/E/F.

Stay lioness!

I can see the tint only in the side photo. In an older stone that is beautiful, I wouldn't want that color in a MRB. Your ring set is stunning!

I don't know, it sort of confirmed what you thought about how the Finnish think about diamonds. It's a culture that places a high value on high color diamonds. Also, keep in mind that you were selling to a gentleman and if they are anything like the US men, they do not have a wide vocabulary for color as women do. They see things in red, blue, yellow etc while we have 100 names for shades of blue.

That being said, your diamond is an EGL L so that means it's around a GIA M. I'm familiar with this color range (I have one) and know it ranges from an off white tone all the way to a buttery tone depending on the lighting source. I don't think it's necessarily a yellow stone nor do I think it's a white stone but somewhere in between.

I don't think you should worry about what people think to the point that you solicit your diamond to strangers in a guise of selling your diamond to them. Sure it's tinted but if you love it and you don't see yourself being serious about selling it, then don't worry about.

Too yellow? No.
Too beautiful? Yes

Ok, new day and new challenges :D . The lioness sleeps on her cave again and Minna is back. I can't say how much I appreciate support and honest opinions I have got from all of you. I KNOW and I KNEW my little stone is gorgeous (when I was purchasing it even then you supported me) and maybe it was just that; I couln't though that someone else don't see it. Stupid, I know. There comes, in life, always different situations when You need desperately support to see the truth and to trust it. This was one of them. Many, many thanks again and hugs to all of you<3

No! It's beautiful and I love the beautiful tones in it. To me I'd pay more for that than a D colour diamond, I would never want a D IF diamond as to everyone else it would just look like a cz! :-)

It's beautiful! I am quite colour sensitive but your stone looks perfectly white to me in the photos. I can see some vanilla tones from the side, but that's all. It's lovely!

Elysia - I wouldn't kick a D/IF out of bed for dropping crumbs though!

Too yellow- not too me.

I think different people in different countries like different things. For instance, I do not prefer the European style Speedo bathing suites on most men, due to my American tastes. I also like OEC's and do not dislike warm colored OEC's. To each his own....

I see a little tint from the side but not from above, I love it.

Looks beautiful! Enjoy your set =)
