Hi again,
Still looking for my 25th anniversary ring. I like this ring from Jewels by Grace.

The GIA plot shows a cavity at the point.

The vendor says no worries about the cavity, that the point of the diamond is secure in the v-shaped setting. She says it does not present as a chip. I have no experience with cavities, except in my mouth, but my gut reaction is that the cavity at the pointy part of the stone would weaken the tip, even if it's ensconced in a v-shaped prong. Thoughts?

Personally i would not. Too much risk

It's pretty! Personally, I wouldn't buy a diamond with a cavity... but I am not an expert. I would also be hesitant to buy from JBG after a somewhat recent post.

I personally would if you like and intend to keep it in that setting. The flaw is protected by a prong. The diamond itself has a persistent bowtie, but that is really not uncommon for a diamond of this vintage. But, if you were to reset the stone, there could be some risk, but you could balance that by making sure to work with a jeweler with old stone experience. The feel the price is fair. I have no issue personally buying from JBG. On this board, I tend to stick to GIA graded stones to provide assurance as to the outcome, but if I could look at an uncertified stone *myself, I would not hesitate. I will personally buy ungraded stones if I can personally view them.

For a GIA graded stone in a setting, I would have her send it to me unaltered (i.e., don't have her size it) until you are sure you will keep the ring. Her return window is short, so you have to consider that if you will travel/have a holiday during all or a portion of that time (or you are just someone that needs time to ponder to make decisions).

The vendor said there is ni bow tie. I might post photos, but I'll probably rule this one out in favor of others. I would definitely not reset. I would love a complete ring only coz I'm lazy. :)
