Hello all,

I've spent many hours trying to decide which engagement ring to buy and I feel like I'm going round in circles.

I've been into Tiffany with my girlfriend looking at rings and while trying to act aloof so the proposal will hopefully come as a surprise.

The ring she liked most in Tiffanys was the Legacy (http://www.tiffany.com.au/Engagement/Item.aspx?GroupSKU=GRP10013) so I'm hoping to buy something similar to that.

So far I've found, what I think are, similar rings on JA and Jogia.

http://www.jogiadiamonds.com.au/engagement_rings/narrow-banded-diamond-ring-with-halo-ER28/

I'm torn between these two companies as I've read good reviews about both. I'm in Australia so I like the idea of buying within Australia but JA seems to have a larger selection.

I'm wanting to spend about $10k on the ring including GST if I get it from JA.

From what I've read I'm looking for G-H colour and VS1-VS2 clarity. It must be eye clean.

I'd really appreciate it if anybody can give me their thoughts on the two rings I've linked to above.

The diamond prices on JA and Jogia don't seem to be that different (especially when GST is factored in) so I really don't know which company to go with.

Many thanks
Neil

Hello
I'm in Australia also and have recently upgraded my engagment ring. My original and my upgrade were both bought from a diamond wholesaler in Brisbane city. Happy to pass on details if you're in Brissy. I've been on pricescope for a while and feel that, on a whole, diamonds are cheaper in America than here but you must be comfortable purchasing overseas if you go that way.

The Tiffany Legacy is much loved and so popular that I doubt you'll have any trouble replicating it.

Jogia is a great company and I would never have an issue buying from some of the top USA guys.

I'm looking to have my upgrade reset so I'm choosing to source a local master jeweller so I can physically go through it step by step and not rely solely on emails etc....

Have a hunt and pic some stones that you love and that suit your budget and post all the info on here for the experienced PS'ers to comment on.

Good luck!!

Hi Neil and welcome!

I just had a quick question, are you anywhere near Melbourne? If so, you could try http://www.hollowaydiamonds.com.au/ or even work with them via the internet or telephone if you find it easier to purchase within Australia.

Hi Neil :wavey:

First of all, welcome to Pricescope! The JA setting you posted looks nothing like the Legacy... it is a totally different style of setting. I didn't look at the Jogia setting, as I've never heard of that company. There are several PS trusted vendors who do a nice Legacy replica. What is your budget in USD??

This one's from Excel and it looks very similar to the Legacy. It's really nice -- esp for the price! ($1299 USD) They can also source your stone here... With this price, you can get a larger/nicer stone than with other more expensive vendors. ;))

Here is one from Whiteflash, and it's very affordable ($1995 USD). They can add milgrain to the setting (like the Tiff's version) and also source a stone for you.

...and another replica by WF (with the milgrain):

I will be looking, but if you could post how much you can spend in USD, that would be helpful. :))

Thanks for all the replies.

Lauren - I'm in Melbourne but thanks for the offer.

JPace - That ring is beautiful. Part of my problem is I think every ring is beautiful!

Lorelei - I am in Melbourne. I've heard Holloway mentioned before. My thoughts for purchasing within Australia were because it would save hassles with customs etc. My problem with going to their store is managing to go there on a Saturday without my better half wanting to know where I'm going!

Msop - Thanks for the welcome. This is why I need help, I see two rings that are squarish with small diamonds around the centre stone and they all look the same to me! Jogia are based in Perth so they aren't well known outside Australia but they do have a good reputation. My budget is around 9.5k USD. Thanks for the links, the rings look great. I'll do more research into the companies and diamonds they have. The ring doesn't have to be an exact replica of the Legacy, I'm just looking for something that is that general style.

Thanks everybody.
