Re: Would love to know more about the fluorescence in my rub
everything looks so beautiful Rubies-r-me! do you have a hard time finding jewelers who will set stones that aren't theirs? I'm new to this forum and am just starting to learn about stones and I love rubies (as well!) in particular.

I don't have pictures as they still with the jeweller. I have a BlackBerry (I know, old school ) and it doesn't take great pictures. Plus I am the world's worst photographer. Once they are set I'll get my husband to take pictures with his camera.
This will interest you. The one thing that really attracted me to this ruby was the stop light red glow it had when I moved it into sunlight.

Thanks Meladora!
Actually I haven't noticed that it was difficult to get a jeweler to set a stone that they didn't provide. However.. I did go to my tried and true jeweler on this.
Poodles.. I totally agree about rubies in the sunlight.. magical!!

WONDERFUL ring! The one you picked was definitely the right choice.
Fluorescence is a personal thing. I like it. In a sapphire or a ruby (both are the same stone, corundum) Fluorescence tells me that the stone is corundum, not an amethyst being passed off as a purple sapphire.
