Hello, this diamond rates excellent on the HCA tool, does anyone else have any feedback to offer regarding the specs? There's a jewelry store in town with this diamond in house that I may go take a look at this weekend...

Thanks in advance!

Re: Would any Pros mind giving me opinions on this diamond's

It does not have measurements that really appeal to me. I prefer seeing more of the crown of the stone, so I like a table of no higher than 58%. Without an idealscope image, I would be concerned whether there would be leakage with that pavilion angle being above 41.0. And the thick girdle is probably knocking it into the very good cut category, and thick girdles often result in extra weight in that area making the stone face up smaller than it could otherwise. I'd stick to GIA Excellent cut only, and you will avoid some of the issues you'll find with a vg cut.

(Oh, and I am not a pro. Just an OCD buyer :)) )

HI ABClove!
It's important to remember that what appeals to one consumer, may not necessarily appeal to another. Based on the measurements of the diamond, the girdle is not an issue. The chances of leakage being an issue is one in a million.
From a professional standpoint there's nothing inherently wrong with the specs of the diamond you posted a GIA report for. Personally, I love many stones with those type of proportions.
BUT- another thing a well versed professional should tell you is the visual aspects ( how the stone looks) need to be the deciding factor.
Have you seen the diamond?

]It is true that a VG cut grade should sell for a bit less than a EX cut grade- however it may be just as nice to you visually.

The stone scores 1.6 on the HCA but falls far out of the zenith of AGS/GIA top cut grades. It is a 60/60 type of stone and it's true that some people like this type of stone. I think DiamondSeeker misread the cert as the pavillion percent is 42 but the pavillion angle is 40.2. She's been rather busy as of late and probably read it quickly. My biggest concern is the 40.2 pavillion angle. It is rather shallow and I'd be worried about some obstruction issues with the stone. With a crown angle of 35, I'd prefer the pavillion angle to be in the 40.7-40.8 range.

The only way to know what types of stones you prefer is to get out and look at them. If you go to see this stone, see if the jeweler has some ideal cut stones to see so that you can compare the optics of two or more stones.

Good luck with your search!
