Winner Winner.... yup, got a Chicken Dinner.

ack, instead of giving myself a headache, i just went with JM to get the stone set and 1 thing out of the way.
we'll give it a few months and re-evaluate again once/if a new setting is selected.
i should be getting the loose stone set shortly (in the next few days here).

thanks again for the feedback! i appreciate the attention. pics to come..

Hi Everyone-
A little more progress.
This time, 14k white gold setting, Tiffany style solitaire.
I was recommended that this was the best way to present the ring (sz 5).
Thanks again for the help.

hi everyone - OP chiming back in here. Sorry for the late reply, everything went really well as you can imagine so we've been really busy. The proposal was super cool, right on the beach in HI during sunset! didn't get back till a few days ago, so we've been busy catching folks up with the news.

here's some hand shots. spent the entire flight back admiring the rock and explaining to her all that i've learned.

i can't thank PS enough, you guys have really started off the new chapter in my life in the correct step.
i hope the community continues to prosper and help others as it has me.

:appl: :appl: :appl:

Congratulations!

Congratulations! The ring looks just perfect for her.

But perhaps you'll still be around...there are always wedding bands, studs, anniversary presents?... :wink2:

It's beautiful on her hand

Congrats!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

good job man! I'm planning on doing my proposal on the beach in the Caribbean soon

Gorgeous! Looks very pretty on her hand

So any tips on which pricescope vendor to go with or your process in deciding which one (for the stone)?

Look at the size of it on her hand!! I'm sure she adores it! You did a fantastic job, I'm so happy that it worked out well for you! Congrats to you both!

thanks for the kind words!
and YES, she adores it very much. in fact, so much, she's put of resizing the ring because she loves to wear it, always. i'm just afraid of it falling off. will get there soon though.

i forgot about the bands, studs, anniversary items.... haha.

would it be taboo if i mentioned the vendor i actually used? i haven't had a bad experience with any of those listed and mentioned via ads on this forum. i think the most important thing was that you have someone able to get their eyes on it. i thought i could do it by simply crunching the numbers and picking it out based on that... which in turn, you can go the lower-cost direction and just find that same "virtual" stone across many vendors and finding the best price. what ended up happening was i got something that was eh... OK... but wasn't BLAM! When you're ready to get something that jumps out, you really need a pro to give a good visual on it, even after you run the numbers, just to give their honest opinion. when i did that, that made all the difference in the world. (i'm still baffled by the EGL-USA "IDEAL-PLUS" cut that didn't come close to a GIA-EX!).

Wow. Looks amazing.
What are the specs of this stone again? Looks white!

You certainly did your research. It's a stunner.

Not at all! By all means write a review - we normally suggest newcomers go to PS vendors because we know they'll do a good job, but people often come looking for info about a particular vendor or looking for recs for local establishments ::)
