Will I be unhappy with an SI?

My budget hovers at $5800 Cdn, and the stone must be G color or better. Ideal weight is around .90 and up. White flash has two options that fit the bill, the first has been confirmed to be eye clean from 6 inches: http://m.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3063761.htm

Eye cleanliness has not been discussed regarding this one, although the inclusion looks less prominent http://m.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3063766.htm

How do these look? Are there better options I haven't yet found? I'm spending far too much time on this, and the fun has worn off a little. I just want to find THE diamond already!

Someone is bound to have some insight on this!

Thanks

You can definitely be happy with an SI diamond. I've bought two and both are great, you just have to be more picky.

As for your budget, take into account the current exchange rate, then any additional taxes, should you have it shipped to you, from the States, if that's the way you decide to go.

As for your requirements, it might be hard to find your colour and size for your budget. I'm not sure how sensitive the person who this would be for is to colour, but H and even I are still very white in my opinion. Pair that with some blue fluor especially.

Do you have any mind clean issues? For me, I have a carat weight issue, meaning even though a diamond my face up larger/smaller, it has to be a certain carat weight and it has to be a certain clarity (SI1 or above) color I could care less about if that makes sense, for me to like it.

Are you able to see any of them in person or photos/video? From a consumer stand point, as long as they're eye clean, I say go for it! But if you're a person who will look at it and go "I wish it were VS clarity" then you may want to keep looking.

As per your diamonds... The first one has been called eye clean by whiteflash and I hear they are good about that stuff... The second is not, so that should give you a pretty good idea.

Although you'd be closser to 6500 for the first diamond after conversion etc.

Hi cwowryk

With your budget, which is hovering right on the edge of the 1ct mark, I'd be trying to get a little creative. This is a nice looking diamond which is an H SI2. It IS, however, noticeably larger, being 1.06ct. If you look at the ring in my avatar - that's an H color stone, and it's very white; no creaminess or tint from above or below.

The wire price on this one is $5236 US, just over $40 below your budget. In stones that aren't large, SI2's can be a terrific buy and a whole bunch of them are eye clean. H is a great color for someone on a budget, but who also wants a nice, white stone.

I know this is asking you to think outside the box, but a lot of women are looking for that 1+ ct benchmark, and the .4mm difference is surprisingly noticeable.

So for my money, I'd be calling BN, asking them for some info on that stone (like - 'is it eye clean?') and, assuming they say yes, buying it and taking a look at it. An H colored stone is nothing to sneeze at, and if it's eye clean, who cares if it's flawless or I1? If you cant see a flaw, you can't see it, period.

My best suggestion.

I have a G SI1 exexex.... There is one little brown spot I can see when my stone is really dirty (like really dirty) and light isn't reflecting. But when it's clean I cant see anything by my eye.

I think an SI1 (or maybe 2) is an amazing way to get a great cut and color for a size.

I also have an SI1 clarity diamond. Love it! It's eye clean up to 6 inches so I'm happy with it. I know where the inclusion is but I can only "see" it at certain angle so I don't mind it. I used to only get VS2 and better but changed it this time to keep the G color and up the size - haven't regretted it!

Many of us have SI diamonds and we couldn't be happier! I can't see my inclusion except my microscope and it assures me that it is my diamond when I do see it!

Hi! We just bought an I1 stone and love it. I have previously had VS2 and SI2 stones and those were completely eye clean with no noticeable different in clarity between the vs2 and si2. However, you just have to see them in person. I saw SI2 stones that were visually worse than my I1 stone. I would rather have a stone that ticks the rest of my boxes over clarity so it just really depends on your preference!
