Does anyone have a 4mm wide x 2mm thick engagement ring band?
I am thinking of having a 4mm x 2mm setting made for my 1.69ct round diamond.
I have a 7.25 size finger and they are long fingers.

Would 4mm width be too wide for a 1.69ct stone?
Thanks for any advice and I’m not sure I posted this in the correct thread.
 
I do not have ring like that but I have bands 1mm - 10mm and diamonds from 0.2 to 2 cts and IMHO a 1.69 ct diamond would look great in the setting you suggest. FWIW I think a wider band does more to balance finger size and ring spread than the size of the stone does.
 
i have short stubby fingers but i always favour a wide band
im not at all a fan of modern skinny bands - they look all out of proportion to my eye

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing! Wider bands are much more balanced looking on my big fingers.

I’m not a fan of skinny bands on myself either. They look great on someone with little fingers but are lost on mine.
 
I’m also wondering about the thickness of the band (the rise above finger, I think it’s called). I think 2mm thickness is good but I can’t visualize it. I want a substantial band.

i reacon in a few years a lot of those skinny bands will be upgraded to wider ones as fashion changes
but they just dont look secure to me

im looking forward to how yours turns out =)2
 
I had a 1.04ct center set in a 5mm x 2.5mm band (with side stones) and loved it. I think a 1.69 would be stunning. I have size 5 (and long) fingers for reference.Yellow gold ering setting.jpg

Of course! I think 2mm is about the thickness of a nickel so maybe that would help to look at in person.

That looks so well balanced and honestly makes the stone look bigger, too. I wonder if anyone has done a study to test the theory that skinny bands make diamonds look bigger.
 
I have my mom's engagement ring which is exactly as you are describing. The band is 4mm wide and 2.5mm thick. The diamond is a 1.24 ct RB on a size 4.75 finger. I am attaching photos of it!

I really like a thicker band, personal preference. I think it will look really beautiful!

I eventually went with a 3.25mm width and 2.5mm thick. It is being made right now. I will show pictures when it’s done. I went with the 3.25mm width because my full eternity band is 3.15mm wide and 2.5mm thick. I wanted them to match in size better. I think 3.25mm wide and 2.5mm thick will still be substantial enough.

I posted my ring in another thread but wanted to let you all see it on here too. I’m still waiting on the eternity band to get finished.
