Considering CBI's buy back policy, is it weird that this stone is for sale on ebay? Makes me wonder (with a 2011 cert) whether the diamond is still in the same condition as when it was sold. It looks like a beautiful stone and is certainly priced right.

Oh this is a great thread! Is this a “good buy” (if you have 100++ k to spare)? I haven’t seen such a large Alexandrite before...

Here’s one for our EC lovers out there! I came across this one where I bought Lucy. I had never tried on an EC before. I was very impressed with this one. I couldn’t see any yellow at all. I didn’t take it outside, though. But we realized that to just buy a similar center stone (not counting the four side stones or the setting) would cost about the same as what he’s asking for the ring. I would have snapped it up if I was in the market for an EC.

Frank, the owner of the store, gave me the history on this ring. He said that his wife has a similar one, although the stones are of lesser quality. Their friends wanted one with much better stones. So many years ago, he helped source the stones and made the ring. Now the friends are looking to sell it for about what they paid for it all those years ago so it’s on consignment with Frank. It’s going for $35,000!

@ohsomethingshiny THANKS for posting the store link on this thread. I definately think the store is worth a "jewelry field trip!" Sadly this particular ring is out of my price range. :D:lol-2:
