Why doesn’t Harry Winston sell princess cut diamonds?

I have a personal preference towards radiant cut diamonds which are generally perceived to be of lower cut quality, so I was surprised to walk into a Harry Winston store and find radiant cut diamonds but be told that they don’t sell princess cut diamonds. Does anyone know why this is the case? Also, their diamonds look impeccable. Is this just store lighting or are the diamonds really that amazing? If it’s the latter, how would one go about identifying spectacular fancy cuts that are the same quality as Harry Winston?

HW doesn't provide grading reports with their diamonds IIRC (but I may be wrong!) so one would have to purchase one then have it scanned to know how it was cut - and even then, that is only one diamond!

Princess cuts probably aren't in high demand.

Princess cuts and radiants are a very small part of the diamond market. Unless they have enough volume to support selling two less popular shapes, it does not make sense.

I not sure why you feel there is a bias against radiants (that they "are perceived to be of lesser cut quality"). I'd pay $100 to the first (non-PS) person on the street that could identify one! Both princess cuts and radiant cuts (as well as every other shape) suffer from terrible cutting focused on weight not performance. But, due to the light paths, straight edges tend to show the cutting flaws more than rounded -- as does being elongate. Radiants, when well-cut (the actual faceting of the crystal) are lovely. I prefer cut-corners and love that look in a square/rectangle over a princess.

Here's a very similar discussion. Bottom line, HW uses incredible lighting and keeps things pristine. Their settings are lovely, but their diamonds are no better than Tiffany or Cartier -- which means they are not better faceted than the majority of diamonds in the world. HW also does not use an independent grading house like GIA or AGS. So, they can say whatever they want...show me the proof.

So according to the website HW does not carry princess cuts but does carry radiant cuts. The sixth question/answer from the top:

the eighth question/answer from the top is about the GIA certificate:

Now I have noticed some GIA certificates with pre loved rings, for instance (IF they are authentic):

This is such as heart-breaking statement...:errrr:

I agree with @rockysalamander.

"Regular" people tend to mistake my Original Radiant Cut as an EC most of the time.
