I didn't start this thread to complain. I just wanted to ask the question why..?

I do apologize for taking the thread off-course. No more negativity from me. Just an alcoholic beverage and last night's episode of Mad Men on TiVo. ;)) It's been a LONG day.

Yes. This. I could give you example after example. ksinger and I are on the same page. I'm not having a baby. I'm not buying jewelry. I'm not acquiring shoes or handbags. I'm not planning a wedding or hoping for an engagement ring. So that leaves . . . not much. Especially when people want to get fussy for no good reason. I've got a really low tolerance threshold for manufactured drama.

You truly don't see how what you said (or how you said it) in the therapy thread was insensitive? You said earlier in this thread that you're always having to defend yourself, that you're sick of people taking your comments the wrong way, and yet despite the obvious common factor being YOU, you point fingers at others for 'getting fussy for no good reason.'

No. Perfect example of manufactured drama. People WANT to find something to hang someone else with. NOTHING I SAID IN MY POST HAD ANYTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THE OP. It was a response to the original question of "would you go". Choosing to take anything I said personally as a condemnation or snark is the CHOICE of that person, and has nada to do with what I said in its proper context. So, no. But since you've always held me in the lowest regard, post after post, go ahead and think the worst of me now. It's not like I expect a different reaction from you. But I would say you give me a lovely example to point to for my contention that there is a great deal of negativity here on PS. Thanks for obliging.

Oh please.

There was nothing in Nash's post that showed she was being a drama queen. She has enough issues in her life to feel that a call to a therapist is warranted. She didn't say "hey guys I'm doing some research on therapists, what's your opinion?" Or "omgz my hubby won't wash dishes and my MIL is so mean!!!111"

It would have taken a few seconds to understand that what was going on is a poster in need of help and understanding. Emotional Intelligence. Stepping out of your own bubble to have compassion towards someone else.

You want to be the resident snark, don't give two hoots about the feelings of internet strangers, fine. But own up to it and stop making the excuse that everyone else must be drama queens just because we aren't ditto-ing you.

My compassion towards someone isn't going to stop because I'm behind a computer. If a friend IRL said what Nash wrote, I wouldn't respond with "well I'm not much of a drama queen and solve my issues myself" :hair flip:

I just had to chime in again and say DECO I LOVE YOU. And I'm still here. Physically anyway, if not mentally.

And as for 'fussy for no good reason'... are we talking about PS'ers or my baby boy?? Because he does that ALL THE TIME. Fusses. For absolutely no reason at all. Or maybe one I just can't see.

Just what we all need right now . . . truth serum . . . I'll take some Merlot! ;)

Maybe we all need to just pull the batteries out of our butts, turn them around, and plug the positive side in.

I'll have a mojito! :lickout:

Ok one Merlot for Kenny, and a nice cold Mojito for Steph..

I am not great at mixing drinks, so if anyone wants to help me out I'd love the help!!!

Snacks you ask?? Ummm well I have some nice chips and salsa...

This ain't the Ritz... :cheeky:

DF, I still have some of that aged Remy Martin if you are up for it!~~

I'm making a vodka/sprite/sour apple thing. It isn't fancy, but it's delicious. :lickout:

I'll take a Big Gulp sized margarita! With a Zantac chaser. Thanks Lisa!

MARA: Love you too, girl. I *might* have to hit you up for some geographical advice. I promise to try to keep my wording & question content fresh. Stay tuned ...

EB: Twas a certain kooky "Fashionista". Need I say more?

Please, please, please, no one encourage ksinger to leave Pricescope if she finds it banal or somehow changed for the worse! I lived through the era of, "America, Love It or Leave It" and it really isn't good for a place to have such polarization! Ksinger is very thoughtful and brainy and funny and I really need her even if you think you don't. Please don't make any suggestions that if she criticizes the status quo she doesn't belong here!!!

Deb, who loves ksinger and other smart women

PS-If I seem out of sync, it is because I am. I spent seven hours driving today and when I got to Connecticut, I found I had misssed a whole page of this thread. Take my posting as heartfelt but not in sync wth others. It happens.

LOL! Don't worry ... its just over-the-counter meds for my acid reflux. 'Fraid citrus-heavy Margarita mixin's don't reciprocate the warm feelings I have for them. Nothing else blows my skirt up & keeps me dancing on bar tops though. Zantac, take me away!

we need to vote for the 2010 PS "DRAMA QUEEN" award...

I just read through this entire thread and realize that I just miss out on way too much that happens on Pricescope. I miss out on a lot of drama. Maybe I even miss out on negativity, who knows? Because it turns out that there was discussion-it sounded like interesting discussion, too-about Holly and a therapy thread at which I never even glanced! (I can't read all the therapy threads, folks. I don't want to get myself all riled up. So I don't.) It seems that by not reading some of them I have also missed out on some Pricescope dynamics that I now wish I understood!

PS-I love Holly. You may not be interested in this, but I'll put it out there for all of you anyway since I don't want to complain about Pricescope being banal and then not provide any food for gossip. Holly and I were on opposite sides of the presidential campaign back in the days when we could discuss politics on Pricescope and we both were very verbal. We sparred and argued a lot. The we found that we both liked classic films like, "The Women" starring Norma Shearer and classical Christmas music including madrigals and music from the court of Henry VIII. And we loved crosses made by Jude Frances and Lucie Campbell and other jewelry designers. We couldn't believe how much we had in common! At any rate, this is a story of how two people who were at war over politics became friends.

I have also noticed the increase negative threads and personal attacks. Maybe they do just stand out since PS has been quiet. Maybe I wouldn't have noticed it quite so much if I wasn't personally attacked. It is what it is. Negativity breeds negativity and it is a shame that many great posters have felt the need to move on. A forum is only as good as its members.

Best line ever! Going to have to use this on my husband...he's such a grumpster somtimes.

OMG! I am dying laughing here.......Deco, you really hit the nail on the head for me. Of course, I missed the whole vendor issue, but I guess I can commiserate with the other posters who feel like they've missed the bus with a lot of threads. :)

And sorry for being negative, but If I read one more thread where the OP changes one word to create a whole new thread two minutes after the original post, I am going to lose whatever's left of my mind. And yes, I know, I don't have to read the thread, and this rewording of threads is very clever, and whatever.....whatever...... :!: I find it disrespectful to the original poster.

I love reading intelligent posts, so I would miss all the wonderful people who contribute, snarks included, if PS became too PC.

eta: AGBF, I think that is an interesting story about you and Holly! Thanks for sharing it.

I saw a whole truckload of negativity piled on a person in the trade who had the nerve to say a diamond bought by someone that was GIA graded triple excellent was a good buy. It just happened over at the Rocky Talky forum. The whole thread has been deleted now, and that's too bad because he was not only pounced on but also threatened. I was hoping that the thread would stay live so that we could find out who runs PriceScope. I mean, since it claims to be an unbiased "consumer advocate" site and all, I just wonder why he was threatened to get in line or get out. There is definitely negativity and it's not clear or transparent who owns this site and who are the "consumers" that are always available to offer opinions. And I think that's a problem.

I didn't see that thread. BUT have been here for almost 6 years, and there is no shilling. The people that post are avid consumers helping their fellow consumer. It's our passion. We like paying it forward. It's that simple...

We don't want anyone to get taken. We take a lot of OUR time to educate the consumer, we are not paid. It's out of our hearts that we do this, and thank god we do, because people would end up buying poorly cut stones, and paying way more than they should...

The people that do this day in and day out, really deserve a medal.. But they do this out of their love of diamonds, and are so giving of their time.

To say anything but that?? It's an insult...

:nono:

No I saw a vendor get threatened over there that if he didn't get in line that he was going to have a problem on Pricescope. I felt like he was being pushed around. It made me uncomfortable.

I saw that thread before it was deleted. Stone Cold didn't have to offer his opinion on the OP's stone, as OP was just sharing his excitement about finding a stone and setting. However, I didn't see any problem with Stone Cold's post. Plus, he wasn't rude about it but just noted that the numbers didn't do so well on HCA and asked if OP visually inspected the stone in other lighting. When the OP said he was happy with the stone, Stone Cold backed off. The vendor was entitled to state his opinion but frankly, I thought his tone was off-putting and overly aggressive towards Stone Cold, given that Stone Cold has no interest whatsoever in OP's purchase and was just trying to be helpful. I didn't think there was a threat to the vendor to "get in line or get out" but a polite referral to an article that provided good advice to vendors posting here. Some people like to buy diamonds with their eyes. Some rely on numbers. I felt bad that the thread veered from the OP's original intent but I don't think anyone piled onto the vendor. If anything, people piled onto Stone Cold.

I agree. I saw the thread. Red Robbin, you might want to read the forum policies here: https://www.pricescope.com/content/forum-policies. It's very important that vendors do not get personally involved in discussions here unless it is somehow directed specifically at said vendor. That's how the board is kept as unbiased as possible. Also, it is tradional that topics posted in Rocky Talky are up for criticism and further discussion. Show Me the Bling is specifically for showing what has already been purchased, so everyone knows not to offer a criticism there unless asked.
