Those pink stones look like tourmaline to me!
The French cut is nice! But that bezel looks very worn down. Were there any marks in the ring?

I was thinking maybe tourmaline too! Didn’t ask to look at the French cut so no idea about marks unfortunately.

I found this little number at the thrift store yesterday, sans chain.
A 7mm akoya with a tiny sapphire in 14k.
I had to rescue her!

@stracci2000 , I love that! I use old dishes to protect furniture. 20230502_152328.jpg 20230502_152310.jpg

Yes, I do that too! No water rings on the antiques!
But usually I use old china dishes.
This sterling silver piece will go in the display cabinet with all my other mismatched sterling bits and bobs!

ok mine is awsome :appl:
because it was a gift :kiss2:
so was free :appl:

kind of sad, it was my older workmate's mother's and the family have no use for it anymore :(2
so now i am loving it for her mother =)2

its crown lynn, (some is very collectable) so chunky everyday often very utilitarian retro NZ (i refuse to call the 80s vintage) a bit of crazzing

it would seem that crown lynn made a huge range to celebrate the wedding

for a long time i was a bit iffy collecting subsiquint pieces from the 'wedding of the centuary' because the marriage ended in major tears, but they are Prince William's mum and dad and they both loved their children and both said the other was a good parent

anyway it has nice silver accents that dont show up on the photo ive not seen on a crown lynn piece before

coffee mugs were much smaller in those days, when did we get so greedy ?

I love that sentiment! And I’m sure the mother would love your appreciation of the mug!

Mine - it's an old hairpin that women used to wear in the late 1800s / early 1900s (Kondakoora) and then made into a brooch. Very inexpensive because it's made of gilt metal. Most of them have replacement stones, but these are all original. It was sold as rubies, but imo it's pink sapphire. Very wearable, I use it for wraps at work - my office is freezing.

$35 for the lot, mind you it took three hours of sifting to find it all. Please don't mind the flosser in one of the pics (DH was helping to untangle some chains).

In the first pic on the right there are three watch chains, the one on the far right is Marked Simmons, next to that is a 12k gold filled long chain, next to that one is a watch chain with some sort of animal head (dog? Crocodile?) and next to that one is the last watch chain marked CRH Co (I think) 12K gold filled. The silver chain next to that is marked Espo Sterling and finally the wire necklace with the rhinestones is stamped "NY".

Other highlights:

Three vintage Hallmark pins (drummer boy, cornucopia, Valentine's dog).

Boucher daschund brooch
10K Enamel flower brooch
12k gold filled coral flower pendant
12k gold filled jasper and leaves bracelet
Hickok jockey tie bar
Sancrest squash Blossom earrings
A Hartford Whalers ring (probably only Nutmeggers would appreciate lol!)
A sterling turquoise brooch marked Sterling Mexico with a crown
Swank Ubangi warrior cuff link (I bought a single cuff link a few visits ago and found the match today!)
Not really old but two Troll beads a dragon and guardian angel both are solid silver

okay so I have to ask - where do you go to find these treasures? I have heard of people going through bins of jewelry and scoring some awesome finds...but where are these bins of jewelry? hahaha where does one go to do this?!

Here are today's finds from the antique mall.
I love these semi-precious stone scarab earrings. Gold filled. I will remove the cabs and make a sterling link bracelet from them.

I couldn't resist this sterling and crystal wine coaster.

A small sea scape oil painting. This was done by a local artist who lived 1905-1992. It's hard to find well done oil paintings.

Two words-pawn shops :)

Also flea markets both indoors and out will be your best resources.

If my husband bought me the world’s best bucket, I would throw it at the world’s worst husband’s head!

Btw, anyone else catch “built to last a lifetime” and it has a 5 year guarantee. Maybe that was a lifetime back then lol!

Two platinum bands that fit me perfectly - the one with the mixed diamonds has a wedding date engraved- October 1937. We also got married in October, 80 years after theirs. 20230516_075039.jpg 20230516_075044.jpg

sad someone's family couldnt keep it but lovely you have it and with the October connection

I recently acquired a few more items that belonged to my late MIL. She was Native American from the Isleta Pueblo.
Her house is filled with Native art, and I am grateful to have these pieces.

Hopi coiled baskets.

I feel like I’ve been posting all over the place lately so thought I’d post this here. Latest acquisition of a serious ruby bender I’ve been on lately. She is 18ct yellow gold with platinum top and shoulders, old cut diamonds and a colored stone sold to me as synthetic ruby but idk, I see an inclusion there so that give me pause.

I’ve been trying to find a cluster ring with this color stone (or close to) for a while and man, they are expensive, so when this popped up I had to grab it. Was thinking yesterday that a curved band would be great with this ring (because Pearl’s ring tends to slip underneath) then remembered that I had this curved band that didn’t really work with any of my other rings. Last pic is just to show all the rubies together.

Nice group!!!
I think the marking in the ring is 18CT stamped twice. The indistinct stamp is 18CT upside down. Whaddya ya think?
Anyway ......I love them all! And the curved band works perfectly.
Yada, you have a great eye for jewels!!
