It's been Slim Pickens (if you remember the old actor!) here lately, but I found a few things today.
14k white gold hoops, $3.50 at my local antique mall, where I have a booth. The seller called them "silvery hoops" on the tag. I had a hunch that they were gold, and I was right. Clearly marked right on the post.
IMG_20210716_145746582~2.jpg

And this cornucopia vase is Belleek china from Ireland. I have a small collection of Belleek.

My Goodwill purchase from the weekend. Not real pearls but I love the colors and they’re hand-knotted. For .99, I’ll take it! 72508272-F1ED-4A42-932C-BBDD3E0FF969.jpeg

These are so pretty and definatly worthy of a 2nd life with you

The local consignment store had a half off sale this week. I found these precious framed children’s illustrations for $2 each, the children’s books I put in an piano bench I repurposed and they were a few dollars. And who doesn’t need a violin made in Italy for $10??? No, I don’t play any musical instrument and it has one little bad place on it but it’s beautiful to me and needs a home that loves it. I also found a large framed mirror for $5. I call it serendipity! EBF44B52-4EF8-410F-BCAC-E22525E9FDA0.jpeg 0E3A6107-AC90-4EF1-9F45-2FEBFD546E93.jpeg 394F134E-EBC1-4F11-83C2-CCEF9836371C.jpeg

Chicken Little, Count to ten! I love that!
The vintage illustrations are wonderful!
The violin would look good mounted on a narrow wall.

Ok, totally random (and I'll behave from now on), but this is my "haul" for today. He called me this morning as I was on I-59 between Laurel and Hattiesburg.

Him: "Where are you?"
Me: "On 59."
Him: I know that. I just passed Sanderson Farms, where are you now?"
Me: "At the blueberry plantation."
Him: "Pull over on the airport exit and we'll visit a few minutes."

So we did. He was headed to The Burg to deliver to a Sam's Warehouse and I was going to pick up a part for our air conditioner. We don't get to see each other too often, but his smile was for me. I'm the only one he smiles at like that and that's the way it's been for the past 38 years. It's not always been easy, but he's my touchstone. With him, everything is ok, even a broken a/c...which he shall repair for me later today. Next stop: Green Bay, Wisconsin. IMG_1995.jpg

My sister-in-law and her husband caught up with the Wild Ponies, a husband and wife duo, this past weekend in Nashville. Because I'd not heard of them, she sent me links to some of their videos, and this one -- Things That Used to Shine -- seems like a song that PSers who delight in varied vintage-antique treasures might like. One of the verses:
Love letters in the drawer of a flea market find
Laid away ring with two months behind
A grandfather clock with a mournful chime
I like things that used to shine
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! :wavey:

We’re really blessed. We’ve been through good and bad times together. We stuck…and that’s the way we’re gonna do this life. He drives a truck these days because he was a mechanic shop supervisor for so many years and he has a bad back so he decided to try truck driving. It’s easier on his back and he’s his own boss. When he rolls in on 18 wheels I’m going to be there waiting on him.

I’ve been hunting around for something to compliment the Garrard ring. It is very low set and bands just don’t seem to work well. A half carat also gets lost on my 8 1/2 finger :confused2:

Enter a ring guard, I have tried one before but it wasn’t really working for me. Problem is ring guards really vary in quality and I needed high color since the solitaire is a G. Found this one on RubyLane with diamonds described as F and clarity at VS2, perfect! Also my size which is another obstacle.

It is literally a perfect fit, the guard does not touch the prongs at all. Yay

Thanks @LorettaB! Kind of like your Cinderella slipper band that you found at the pawn shop. Sometimes things are meant to be ours!

@stracci2000, stupid cars, always taking money from fun stuff. Well since I sold the too small eternity recently, I had some money to play with. However I will be on a ban now to save for Christmas, older kids don’t need a lot but the things they tend to want are $$

Such pretty treasures. I love the simple bands and what stone is the stick pin?

I believe the stick pin has green and blue glass. There is no stamping, and the metal appears to be rose gold filled.
It's pretty, though!

I know! Your emerald studs were from your MIL right? Still it looks like there is lots of sparkle in that treasure trove!

Yes, DH brought me the emeralds a few weeks ago, as they were found on her dresser.

But just yesterday, DH and his dad were looking through her jewelry armoire, and his Dad said, just give this whole armoire to Stracci" (!!!)
So DH brought the whole thing home.
OMG, I couldn't believe she had so much.
She had her favorites, like small gold hoops and her wedding ring. We never saw her wear any of this.

I‘m sorry for your loss @stracci2000 - may her bling generate many happy memories for you!

She was a classy lady, and she liked nice things. I will put most of this into rotation and try to give it all a little love from time to time.
There was even more jewelry that I didn't photograph. A whole drawer was full of stud earrings. I ran out of room on the table and had to sort through necklaces on the carpet!

Maybe when she was younger ?
