So, you all know I collect vintage sewing....things (machines, cabinets, tools, etc). I check craigslist regularly. I pop on today and see (for $150 obo) this grouping of a crappy fake wood craft/sewing cabinet, vintage sewing machine (another straight stitch that had nothing special), and crappy plastic machine. The second picture had a cute little wooden sewing side table/cabinet. I'd never seen one like it and thought it was cute. A few questions were asked and she was mine! It was a long drive like 25min to get her, but for $20 I'm happy! Look at that carving on the back!!! Those top sides flip up (supported w/a swiveling piece of wood). One side has some damage and needs to be re-glued (same w/the center support on the bottom). :)

1609215561026.png

Someone added these spikes to hold thread spools at a later date (you can see where they measured, and there's a worn spot on the drawer casing)

1609215699450.png

One of the sides (here you can see the damage, it's in the back where it needs to be reglued)
1609215741617.png

Open wide!
1609215763573.png

And the front! Those knobs aren't shamrocks, but I think they are pansies :D

1609215800471.png

Very nice!
You will have fun filling it up with all your thread and notions!
1890s-1920s?

Check out what we found on a local free Facebook page! Only missing one jar, so excited! I did have to clean the jars of the old spices which was  but hey they all cleaned up nicely.

You can see the bottoms of my old cabinets and that horrible color counter, it is a daily struggle not to rip this kitchen apart!

I was rearranging some jewelry and I came across this old puzzle ring. It was given to me some years ago. It is marked 800 silver.
It is a total pain to reassemble!

Maybe they are a pain to encourage you to wear them and not take them off @stracci2000!

I was rearranging my rings, and this one came apart when I pulled it out of the ring slot.
Drats! Then I had to go to Youtube to watch some videos on how to reassemble it, because I had forgotten how to do it.
I only like crossword puzzles, not jewelry puzzles!

This is not vintage but I didn’t want to start a whole new thread.

Every year we each pick a Hallmark Christmas ornament and this was mine this year. @Cozystitches I thought of you when I saw this :)

At the consignment store, I couldn't resist this taste vin or sommelier cup.
It has French sterling marks.
I am still trying to decipher the maker's mark, but I'm thinking it is late 19th century.

Also, at a new thrift store, I bought this Italian millifiore glass pendant. It is really pretty. The flowers are floating in a clear glass background. The metal is vermeil.

I showed it on an antiques forum, and the opinion there is that it dates 1838-1879, so I'm happy about that!

Great finds @stracci2000 and such a pretty pendant!

We were at Best Buy today to buy a sound bar but I would have much rather been vintage shopping. Trying to really focus on the house but antique shopping is much more fun ;-)

I’ve been trying to be good, have been mostly successful but then @GearGirly posted this adorable bow ring in pre-loved so.....

Guess what is not out today? I swear no sun every single time there is a sparkly in the mail. So this is what I have for now. The diamond is an OEC 5mm and the setting is white gold with a knife edge, really pretty in real life. Thanks @GearGirly for my new pretty!

I’m becoming too predictable @stracci2000! Well I do have a birthday next month so we will call it an early birthday present ;-)

I want to love there! No cold, no snow and lots of sun? Yes please! We would be so dangerous though lol!

Actually, it does get cold here.
It was 19 degrees overnight.
But it will get up into the 50s by afternoon.
That is typical winter weather here. And thankfully, we seldom get snow.

I posted this band in another thread to ask about the hallmark but wanted to add it here. This is 18k with a “G” in a triangle for the hallmark. It resembled the Van Craeynest 920 so closely that I wrote to them and found out that in the past Van Craeynest bought the dies from Granat Brothers. I was not able though to find a Granat hallmark that looked like this. So it’s a bit of a mystery but probably the closest I will ever come to owning a Van Craeynest piece ;-)

Also this is how the ring was packaged in this dirty disgusting bag in that box. Blech!

I would keep checking back with this vendor to see what else he lists!
These are the kind of sellers that I like. People who are not jewelry dealers, who probably don't really know what they have.

@stracci2000, this was probably the most nerve wracking purchase I’ve made yet. First off the pictures in the sale post were taken off a cell phone and they were abysmal. Description didn’t specify karat or have any really useful information and I wouldn’t be able to return it. They never even told me it shipped. Crazy stuff! Literally tossed all the rules out for this one!

I've had a few like that, too!
You're on pins and needles, and worrying that you made a bad choice.
But you always do well in the end!

Not jewelry, but antique dishes!
I just love old dishes and pottery.
These pieces are English transferware. I found these pieces today and yesterday, at thrift stores. I only paid a few dollars each.

This black transferware dessert dish dates to 1841-1849.

This relish dish is from the 1830s-40s
IMG_20210114_211555883.jpg

This pattern is called "Damascus", and was made between 1818-1846
IMG_20210114_211508776.jpg

And lastly, this pitcher is from the 1890s

I thought of you all when I went to the Antique Store today! I love this store because it's HUGE!!! There are a lot of vendors and a lot of things. I don't typically look at the jewelry as it's not typically my style. I went there because a booth was having a closing out sale and I saw a vintage train case. I love those things! Anyway, the case (even at 40% off) was more than I wanted to spend, so I wandered around and found other goodies!

Two compote dishes (the blue one was marked by the seller as being Fenton), an amber wine glass (as marked by the seller), and a glass basket.

The large compote is under 5" tall, the smaller one (which has beautiful detailing that's not showing in the picture!) is just over 3" tall. :D

AND my haul also included a gift for my dad (porcelain? teddy bear in a mailbox) AND was less than I was planning on spending on the train case. :D

Sorry ladies, I’m just getting caught up on this thread!

@stracci2000, this may be a stupid question but do you use those transfer ware plates or are they display only? We had some blue and white plates growing up, flow blue? That might not be the correct spelling but your plates remind me of those.

@Cozystitches, pretty compotes! Love that darker blue one and they look to be in great condition!

@stracci2000, I know you appreciate agate so here is something I’m waiting on. The frame is gold filled so I think it is on the older side. Both sides are equally beautiful and I don’t have any agate so this is my first. It’s a good size too.

I use some of them. I have a stack of dishes and dessert plates in the cabinet that we use for dinner. And the small dishes are really good for dessert. Pie tastes better on a fancy antique dish!

Of course the older, fancier things are displayed.
My china cabinet is completely full. These newest dishes are stacking up in the living room. I don't know what I'm gonna do! I need more display space!

Love love love!!!!
This is awesome! Dendritic agate! Yum!

It's gorgeous...agates were very common in early 20th century jewelry. The Art Nouveau movement used a lot of agates and jasper, etc, because they wanted to emphasize the beauty of nature.

@stracci2000, oh I agree that everything tastes better on a pretty dish. Does the DH say anything about your expanding collection of dishes or does he take it all in stride?

I think I was as excited to share the agate as I was to buy it! I’ve heard this type of agate grows in water, is that true? I clearly need to do more research!
