Jeez, they don't show you the back. Do you think it's just "pinned" into the hair?

No clue. I have fine hair and not a ton of it, do it has to be secured.

I have pinned a brooch to my ponytail holder in the past. But that was a sterling one, not diamonds and emeralds, although it did have sentimental value. Sorry for the poor quality photo--this was taken 6 years ago!

the only thing that puts me off brooches in my hair is ( i have very fine hair) i would worry it would get caught up and pull and hurt

I found this sweet salt spoon made in 1789 by (the workshop of) the famous London silversmith Hester Bateman last week--cost me $5!

It's wonderful! What history! What craftsmanship!
You may recall that I have a "thing" for silver spoons!

just an interesting tip bit on a quite news day (Easter Monday is a public holiday here)

The parchment, signed in 1735, appears to be an agreement for one year between a Matthew East and James Tillyar. Found down the back of a couch

the moral of the story is check under your couch cushions
there may be more than loose coins and old peanuts down there:lol:
i only find Wen pearls and Navajo jet under my mine so no mystery here :lol-2:

So anybody related to a Matthew East or a James Tillyar ? presumably British (as Captain Cook did not even land here till 1769 so it isnt local)
