I’m a big music fan and my favorite performers are...wait for it...Hall and Oates.
Who is your favorite group/musician of all time?
Do you go to a lot of concerts?
And how long will you wait before you feel safe going to see your favorite performer again?

My all-time favorite is James Taylor.

Now in my 60s, I've been to only one non-classical concert in my life ... Joan Baez, back in the 60s.
My sister and I couldn't afford tickets so we sat outside the venue with many others.
The sound quality was surprisingly good, but the performance itself was excellent.

Being an extreme introvert, I avoid crowds.
I also prefer the technical perfection of studio albums to live performances.

@kenny Ooh, I love JT. I saw him 5 or 6 times in concert within about a 3-year time span. One thing about his shows is that what you hear on his albums is pretty much what you hear in concert. He doesn’t change the arrangements that dramatically like some artists do. Just slightly. So from a strictly musical standpoint, if you don’t like crowds you aren’t missing out by just listening to his CDs at home :)

Oh Come on!

This is a tough one because I love so many musicians and bands. If I had to choose just one it would be The Eagles.

My absolute all time favourite is Pink Floyd. INXS and Red Hot Chilli Peppers are a close second. I also love Moody Blues, U2, Eurythmics, Icehouse, Dragon and Boom Crash Opera.

The Rolling Stones94D7BA45-F6C5-4698-85C0-177581742978.jpeg

Whitney Houston, Jim Croce, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse

Impossible to pick one, I will say there will never be another Whitney.

Sadly never been to any of their concerts and don't go to concerts in general.

Daryl and John!!!!!!
OMG I’ve seen them at least 20 times going back to the Academy of Music on 14th Street in NYC In the ‘70’s. I’ve loved them ever since Abandoned Luncheonette.
The last time I saw them was at the Beacon two years back. They haven’t lost a thing.
I had a real thrill once in the ‘80’s when I was playing with my band at a place called the Underground. We looked up and John Oates was in the audience. We got to meet him.

I’m also a JT lover. Seen him many times too. You’re right about how faithful he is to his music.
Great thread!!

Agreed! I never get tired of Led Zep. Plant was super sexy back then.

”I’m On Fire” - one of my all-time favorite songs!

Love the Eagles!

Icehouse with John Oates! (Not a great recording, but still cool):

The Rolling Stones94D7BA45-F6C5-4698-85C0-177581742978.jpeg

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Stones! I’ve only seen them once live, and I was almost crushed to death by the crowds, but it was SO worth it!!! I’d go to see them every time they were/are in town if I could afford their ticket prices

Whitney Houston, Jim Croce, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse

I would’ve liked to have seen all of these performers in concert, especially the Beatles. I did get to see Paul live once - so much fun!

My son is a professional death metal drummer, so he is my favorite musician and his bands are my favorite bands (he's in 3 at the moment). =)2

Wow, that’s exciting! You sound like a cool mom! :cool2:

Simon & Garfunkel, Blondie, Natalie Merchant. I saw Natalie Merchant in concert one time.

The Eagles. I'm salty that my husband got to see them up close and personal at a private function. "Hotel California" is my favourite song of all time.

Daryl and John!!!!!!

Ahhhhh! Another fan of Daryl and John on PS!!! You have awesome taste in music @Rockdiamond - lol!
I’ve seen them live over 50 times since the ‘80’s. The last time was with Train. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare everyone else. Suffice it to say their live shows convert a lot of casual listeners into big fans.

That’s such a cool story about your band and meeting John. I’ve met him and he’s really down to earth. During lockdown he’s been filming IG videos about Japanese flower arranging. Lol!

I was at a jazz record store once and there was a guy looking at albums there. I only saw him from the back, but he had this aura about him. I literally felt like I was in the presence of greatness, but I didn’t know who he was. He finally turned around and it was Robert Plant!

@SallyB
I'm probably preaching to9 the chioir...but have you seen live from Daryl's house? Here's Pat Monahan (train) signing an H&O classic....

eta- I haven't' listened to this in years- and the chills running up my back are still there....

Oh, what I wouldn’t give to have seen The Bee Gees, Simon & Garfunkel, and (1970’s) Rod Stewart live:lol-2:
I saw Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden a few years back and it was an amazing show!

So many great performers on this list. I feel blessed to have seen Aretha in concert during her final tour. Greatest female singer of all time in my opinion.

Simon & Garfunkel, Blondie, Natalie Merchant. I saw Natalie Merchant in concert one time.

“Simon & Garfunkel: Songs of America“ from 1969 is a really interesting tour documentary. So sad they couldn’t stay together longer.
