Who Who is Diamond Fan?

Hi!!! I was in Nantucket and then visiting my kids at camp. Just walked in. Normally we have a computer with us, but hubby got a flabozzled and left one at the beach house in Stone Harbor and one at his office, so we really did not have access. It was tough to be off from PS and other sites, and I am just catching up! Thanks for noticing, not sure anyone would!

How are the kids doing? Having a great time I''m sure! Ahhhhh, Nantucket...It just sounds relaxing.

Thanks for asking...it was a nice week overall, but I am glad as always to be home.

Nantucket is, but we had a bear of a time getting there due to weather...and the weather, though it did improve, was not so great the first couple of days. I did find it more crowded this time, very busy in town, and it is not inexpensive, but we just fell in love with it years ago.

The kids are AMAZING, they are brown and look taller than they did four short weeks ago, and they are having a ball at camp. We went to a Red Sox game with them today after getting my oldest a hair cut and restocking their snack supplies, and they just had a ball. The weather was amazing and they ate a ton, and my youngest was so happy to see his big brothers. They would have liked to have seen Miss Maya too but that was not happening this time!

She has a who''s who if you want to read about her. She is such a kind and wonderful person! Her an Kaleigh are delights.

Dang, sorry, I meant to respond to another PS who was paging you in LIW. Well, now you Kaleigh get to see that I think you two are wonderful, but I think you might already know that. Oh well!!!

I have terrible insomnia, I just cannot fall or stay asleep too easily.

Hey, I have the same problem. I rarely sleep a whole night without help. My doctor put me on a couple of sleep medications (ambien and junk like that) and I was always scared of becoming addicted. Finally I was introduced to Seroquel, which is actually a an anti-psychotic
32.gif
when used in huge quantities but at really low doses, it''s used for people with sleep disorders. It also has no potential of dependence, no matter how long or often you take it.

I take one an hour before I go to bed, sleep all the way through the night and still wake up (about 9 -11 hours usually) without being groggy! Wikipedia has a whole page about it. If you really have that much trouble sleeping that your life is suffering, you should seriously consider it. It''s helped me keep a normal schedule for a year now. I love it, and I love that I can not take it if I don''t feel like it and I don''t feel addicted.
36.gif

Just a helpful hint anyway.
35.gif

Thanks Miss Skippy! I did not see that in LIW so maybe I need to go and check it out, not my normal thread!!!

I think you are pretty terrific too!
36.gif

Nebe, thanks! I will ask about it, it sounds like it could have potential. I have had medication reactions in the past so I get scared of trying new things, but I can certainly can look into it! Not sleeping really is so debilitating...

DF, I didn''t want to threadjack so I thought I would post here. I came so close to passing which gives me hope for next time. I will do it next time; I feel it. Thanks for asking, you are always so sweet!!!

How are you? What are you up to? Hubby and I are going to Paris and Barcelona for his 40th birthday in the spring!! I enjoy being home and I took up a sewing class for fun! How are the boys? The new house? I hope you feel better soon.

I hope you sleep better soon. I went and bought cold eeze since I was exhausted and felt a sore throat, stuffed head coming on. I also am armed w/airborne. I think I just needed a nap so I got run down. It ihas been windy so I think that it is just allergies from stuff being kicked around. Colds can be bad!!! I hope you got the flu shot; I better do that too. Are your kiddos sick too? Well rest and have the men wait on you.

Any fun books that you have read lately?

Barcelona and Paris sound great! I have not been to Spain, but be very prepared to eat at midnight. I have friends who went and loved it.

I am sure you will do well. Where there areas you need a bit more support on so you can focus on them for next time? Stay positive.

My kids are fine, except my oldest has a mild stress fracture and is sad to not be running the rest of X country, but it will heal and what can you do? Things are busy, but for the most part it is all fine.

The house is still very much on paper, the architecht and landscape architecht are working on things but it will be a long road. I hope it will be worth the work. I love the land and really want to have all the things in place, just feel overwhelmed by the process.

I have just been weighed down with this cold, I really have not felt well. I am excited to go to New York next week to see Legally Blonde, I have heard it is an adorable show (the movie is my secret anthem, as hubby says they must have modeled Elle on me!!!) so that should be a lot of fun. Otherwise we are just busy with the school routine, lots of bar and bat mitzvahs...I am going to Chicago in a few weeks to visit my niece and hang with my sister so that should also be lots of fun...

Skippy, just wanted to comment on the books. I have not read much, but got one called Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes that looks cute. Also Evanovich has a new one coming in Feb. that I pre ordered tonight from Amazon, looks like she is wrapping up the series if I can tell from the title. What about you? I love love reading and need some new good books!

No, but I am not called the shopping Queen of the Main Line for nothing...

I love that! Reading about you has been great. You''re really honest and open about everything and for someone so young, you have a lot wise things to say.

You and I are alike in many ways. And I''m an insomniac for many of the same reasons as you. I hate being at home alone! I was an only child until I was 17. My dad (also a doc) and mom were never around, so I think it''s definitely affected me a lot.

I love me some Legally Blonde, Clueless, and Gone With the Wind. I like to shop, but I don''t think I''m nowhere near as good as you. When I first moved here, I would always go to KOP, but I have a coworker who lives in Haverford and she helped me change that.

Hey to a fellow shopper who cannot sleep! The internet is the bane of my wallet. I can sit up late at night and google and buy countless useless things. Just like they say do not grocery shop hungry, do not shop bored or tired. The UPS man knows me so well it is sad.

The Main Line has some okay shopping. Of course, my end all and be all is BERGDORF''S. I love EVERYTHING about it. Lock me up there and throw away the key, I think it is a bit of heaven on earth. I could spend an entire day there no issues.

Did you see Legally Blonde on Broadway? I loved it. All of my friends said Laura Bell Bundy, who plays Elle, reminded them of me. Not too sure I agree, but hey, it is one of my favorite movies so I had to see the show. It was a lot of fun.

How is the car search going?

For me, it''s usually FedEx. I think I have something delivered at least once or twice a week. What kind of things do you buy? Brass monkeys? :)

I''ve been to New York many times, but I don''t really go to Bergdorf''s, I''ve been a few times, but it''s not really a store that I shop at. My department store of choice is Nordstrom with Saks probably coming in second. I don''t know if you know this, but Saks is (last I heard, they just sold off Parisian to Belk so I expect them to move up to New York) is headquartered in Birmingham and my stepmom worked there before she married my dad. Honestly, up until maybe . . . last year, I could not stand her (she tried a little too hard). There is just something about Nordstrom that I love. I feel like it''s the upscale department store more aimed at people in my age range . . . if that could be said. Niemans and the like are too stuffy for me.

And I wanted to go see Legally Blonde, but it just hasn''t worked out. My last day of working is this Friday so it''s going to free up my time exponentially so I should be able to see it. The only problem is making Nate go see it with me.

I really, really like Mercedes GL so I think I''m going to get one of those. To be honest, I haven''t thought much about the car thing lately; I''ve been feeling kind of down because I''m leaving my job, but I know that teaching is what''s best for me. All of the students I''ve been prepping for the SAT increased their scores I figure I''ve found my calling.

Diamond, I did a second test drive on the GL and we''re going to order it when I can get Nate away from the hospital.

Great! Is that the newer, larger 3 row SUV? (I am not up on the model numbers). I am sure you will love it.

When are your babies coming? Do you know if you are having boys, girls, or one of each? How wonderful and exciting.

Nate is at CHOP, right? It is an amazing place. I have been there with my kids, thankfully for nothing too serious, but how lucky we are to have it in our backyard! You must be proud of him.

Yeah, it''s pretty big, but I felt comfortable with it and that was important to me.

The babies will be here in May. We went to the doctor yesterday and we found out that we''re having a boy and a girl. It''s wonderful and exciting, but I have to say that I am kind of scared. We didn''t really plan on twins. But I''m totally looking forward to it!

CHOP is amazing. And I couldn''t be more proud of him. He has this passion for medicine that I have never seen before. And I''ve grown up in a medical family. My grandfather was also a pediatrician (rheumatologist) and it takes a caring and focused person to work with kids. Nate really loves the hospital environment, but I think seeing some of the children he feels kind of down, he never says anything to me, but he doesn''t really have to because I can kind of tell.

The only bad thing is that Philadelphia probably won''t be our home. His training is going to be over next year and after that there is a high chance that we''ll be moving. I hoping that we get to stay, however.

A boy and a girl is great! I think that is so ideal, twins is tough, but I would get a baby nurse who has twins experience to get you through in the beginning. You will be tired and with Nate''s schedule...it would be smart.

I am sure that it is tough on Nate, I cannot imagine what he sees on a daily basis.

Maybe you guys can make sure you stay here, that would be great. It is a really wonderful area.

I will check those out when they come out! I am reading T is for Tresspass; it is soooo good! I love Sue Grafton, it is set in California in the 80''s and the lady detective is named Kinsey; it isn''t funny but full of suspense (huge nail bitter). hehee

I can''t wait to see your birthday present! Happy Birthday Friend!

Hello Diamondfan!

Fellow lover or Rae''s in Santa Monica here. mmm I love old school diners. I''m a Venice Chicka

Just read through your bio, and I feel that you have such a well rounded, complete, and FUN and loving existence. Really so lovely to hear.

I''ve come across your posts from time to time, and I feel that you give such solid advice. I lurked for a long time before I joined--usually lurking at night, as I have weird insomnia. (side note here--but wanted to say that I noticed what you were talking about over on Ellen''s recent SMTR thread even as a lurker!)

I feel you on the desire for sleep. AAAhh the insomnia! How maddening it can be! Really, sleep is the best thing in the world.

The first time I saw your emerald cut, I hollered for hubby to come to my laptop.
30.gif
There are few rings that can stop hubby in his tracks, and yours takes the cake! He and I BOTH love your beyond outstanding taste. I just love your Hello Kitty girl too. I''ve loved that kitty since I was a little girl.

I''m a newbie to pricescope and wearing jewelry in general, (even though I have amassed a tiny collection heh heh)but WHOA! DiamondFAN! You''re pieces are inspiring, and are making me quickly crave expert status!

Thanks for being a catalyst in bringing me out of lurkdom!

Hi DF

I have really enjoyed reading about you....

I didn''t want to threadjack in the SUV thread, but I wanted to say that a big part of my not buying anything is because I don''t know where we''re going to be. Last week, he had an interview in New York. To be honest, I would rather live here and him make less money than move to NYC. I just don''t think I could live in that type of city. We''ve really go to make a decision soon because we''re going to have to sell this house.

Coati, thanks! I am blushing here!

I am 42 and feel I have earned my stripes. I have loved bling since way back in the day...I mean literally as long as I can recall.

I am so glad you are out of lurkdom and I had a small part in it!

Welcome, welcome!

Anything you want to know, just ask. I am happy to answer, as you can see I am not shy about "talking"...

Coati, I used to go to Rae''s on Sundays...lined up outside the door. Yum.

Maisie, thank you so much! I always enjoy your posts as well. How is your job?!

Penn, I get it. A car in New York is tough and not really worthwhile cost wise.

The cost of living here is better than NY for sure. And with babies NY might be okay, but older kids it might be tough.

Stay here!!! Chop is a great facility for Nate as well.

I almost forgot, I went to Bergdorf on Saturday!

I am in LOVE with that store!!!! Was there in February, it is my absolute favorite store.

Carolyn,

When are you going to post a picture of your gorgeous right hand ring that your had redone???? The emerald cut 5 stone band wasn''t it??? WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT!!!!! I especially would like to drool
