I just wanted to do a quick write up on the ordering procedure.
1) I picked out a diamond and setting on their website.
2) I contacted Becca from Whiteflash and she placed the order for me.
3) They provided me with instructions for wiring the money (I would save $$$ when paying by wire, so this was a no-brainer for me). My bank converted the money to USD and I paid an additional $30 CAD wiring fee.
4) Once the wire was received production started and the ring was ready to ship within two days. Whiteflash ships via FedEx (2 day International Priority)
5) FedEx's tracking updates indicated there were some "customs clearing delays". When I contacted FedEx they said I had to fill out a power of attorney form (http://1drv.ms/1QJHEz7) and send it to them. This was needed to authorize FedEx to clear customs on my behalf. FedEx charged me 13% tax (Ontario) based on a converted total sale price and a $11.30 brokerage fee.
6) Well that's it, lol. I wanted to let other Canadian know what to expect when it comes to additional fees and taxes.
P.S. The "Whiteflash Experience" was exceptional from start to finish. Becca was extremely helpful and very patient. The transaction couldn't have gone any smoother!
