Diamond #1:
1.06ct G SI1 (eye clean)
AGS Ideal 0
HCA score is 1.6 TIC
6.55mm in diameter.

Diamond #2:
1.27ct I VS1
GIA triple EX
HCA score is .8 TIC
6.99mm in diameter

Diamond #2 costs $500 more than #1 but that's less than a 10% difference so not a big deal. But each has their trade offs so it's making it very difficult for me to choose. I don't know if the difference between AGS or GIA grading would skew anything. For instance the GIA I might be more like a AGS H. Maybe the AGS SI1 is more like a GIA VS2.

Hi Soodonims. Please can you give more details regarding the stones / certificate numbers, idealscope, ASET or normal images?

I wouldn't rely on the differences between the certificates in your equation, but an AGS ideal 0 is usually a more reliable measure of cut than GIA excellent. I think if the figures look OK for the GIA excellent, it will boil down to whether you have preference for whiteness compared to size. The size difference will be noticeable, as will the colour difference.

It depends on the stone as it could be a borderline one that when graded by another company or even by the same company on a different date could change by one grading.

Assuming both are correctly graded then there's 2 grade difference in clarity and color. Clarity issue isn't likely that important since the SI1 is eye clean. The difference between G and I can be quite noticeable however. But depending on what setting you choose the color can be hidden to some degree.

It's up to you to decide if the color difference is too much or if it's not and you'd rather have the increase in size. For me I color stones can be iffy. Some have a definite tint so I'd have to see the stone before making any sort of conclusion.

Please post the specs on each stone, especially for the GIA stone as GIA 3X is a very broad range and can include some not so great performing diamonds. And if you have IS or ASET images those will be helpful as well.

I feel you should make sure the cut is truly ideal on each diamond before going to color and clarity and size differences.
