The Sultan of Brunei bought the famous 16 carat Mogok Ruby for $3.6 million in 1988 for his wife. At that time, the purchase made it the World''s most expensive precious stone.
But of course now with Red Diamonds probably priced at more than a miillion dollars per carat, Rubies are no longer the most expensive stones on a per carat basis.
Anyway, back to the question: The problem is he had two wives; and, recently, this year), before he took another wife, he divorced one of them.
Does anyone know whether that Mogok Ruby is still part of the royal family''s jewels, or is it now the property of the ex-wife?
