I prefer the look of the 7 stone. But I would want better quality stones.

Can you find your own vendor for the insurance claim? And maybe put extra money with it to get better stones? I personally love my 7 stone. I wear it almost all the time without my engagement ring. It’s just so easy to wear.

Ugh. That’s pretty much what I did. The white gold seven stone was already an exchange to a first even less satisfactory replacement and I paid $100 more for it. After everything was processed, I found the original ring. So I informed JM and the rep said I could choose between the rose gold or this seven stone. I can’t upgrade to a third replacement considering I already found my original.

I might have to keep my rose gold band for sentiment’s sake and get a sparklier seven stone after I upgrade.

Or I can trade in my rose gold for this OK seven stone.

Jewelry is such an emotional purchase. I hate settling! I get an annoying feeling in my hip whenever I try to force something that doesn’t quite work.

Does your seven stone sparkle indoors, unsettled? None of my diamonds do very much in my living room, including my solitaire, yet she's a firecracker in most lighting. Maybe it's not necessarily the seven stone's quality but the lighting. It would be a shame to return the seven stone, pay more money for a “higher quality” one, and have it perform the same!

Mine does. I had a friend try it on at a dinner party one night and I was sort of surprised at how sparkly it was from across a room.

I think you have your answer. It is difficult for us to really provide the best feedback here because you know yourself better and know where your heart is. Is this your original, original wedding ring? If yes, then I wouldn’t trade it. My original wedding ring was stolen and I always long for it. You can always add a 7 stone to your collection after you upgrade your center stone. ;)

I’m so sorry to hear about your stolen wedding ring!

The rose gold pave is not the original, original but it has good juju vibes and I like wearing it. Besides, I like the way it blends into the skin. It’s a different look from white stones on white metal and I could wear it as a RHR if I change my e-ring to a white metal. I told JM I was happy to keep both  but will return the replacement if they want it. Besides, a .50 tcw seven stone from WF would be an affordable way to wear ACA stones!

I like your rose gold band. Plus, it's a birthday present, goes better with your current E-ring, and will stack nicely with other things later. I'd just wait and buy a better 7 stone ring if (when) you upgrade your E-ring.

I agree! The seven stone is pretty from afar but not as enjoyable to wear. Not that I'm not wearing it now while I wait for return instructions.

Proportionately I like the rose gold band with your current ring, but I prefer the WG band with your proposed upgrade size.

Just curious, but when you upgrade, what color of setting will you do? I personally don't like mixing the metal colors.

I really love rose gold and white metal and have a hard time deciding between the two. I might have the stone set in the same rose gold and platinum head setting at first, enjoy that, and then eventually change it to a white metal. I adore the classic Tiffany knife edge solitaire setting but there are so many pretty options-- double prongs drive me nuts! If or when I make the switch to white metal, I would consider adding a much sparklier seven stone for a special occasion!

If you're going to get dinged for filing the claim, keep both.

If they're going to cancel the claim (and any associated rate increases), give them back the white gold one. Minus your additional hundred dollar upgrade fee.

Keep the Rose gold (or both, as above).

I don't know if they will cancel the claim but the insurer confirmed that my premium will not go up due to the incident. I informed them as soon as I found the ring bc I am a law-abiding nerd. My main concern was my premium not going up bc I have much more valuable items I need insured.

I'm definitely keeping the original. I got it for a great price and am very happy I found it.

Sounds like a good idea. If you're going to get a replacement, you might as well get something that really makes you happy. Don't settle!

Update: The insurer told me that if I want to keep my original ring and return the seven stone, I can’t get my $150 out of pocket costs back for the seven stone. So I can either 1) pay $150 out of pocket for finding, reporting and keeping my original ring (what a crummy way of making a customer “whole”) or 2) return the original and keep the seven stone. :(2

Boy, it sure pays to be honest. :)
