The insurance replacement arrived shortly after I found my original wedding band (of course). JM is letting me choose which one to keep. Which one looks better with the soli?

Rose gold pave .50 ctw
White gold seven stone .50ctw

The rose gold pave feels more like a “set” and I enjoy the contrast of the stones on rose gold but the white gold has bigger stones. I should add that the bigger stones are not the sparkliest so bigger isn’t necessarily better in this case.

What do you think?

I like the rose gold better. The proportion is nice and the stones actually look better. Their sizes allows them to wrap more gracefully around your finger.

The white gold band matches your solitaire better. I see a lot of metal in the rose gold setting, and not in a good way.

I like the rose gold too but you know— size, baby, size! :Up_to_something2:

I have to admit, when the white gold band arrived, I was disappointed when I opened the box. The stones looked like dead horses! I cleaned them with dish soap and I guess they sparkle in the sun but in indoor lighting, not much going on. A bit uneventful. Wearing the original feels more right.

I prefer the look of the white gold seven stone in the first picture, too. I like how the stones are more distinct. It wears differently in person though.

I do really love the look of the seven stone, but if the diamonds are not well cut and sparkly, then return it, keep the original and maybe down the line look for a better seven stone to add to your collection. The size looks lovely on you!

Next time I buy a pave band, I will seriously consider Whiteflash’s H&A melee. Not worth splurging on “just OK” stones.

Thank you! It would’ve been cool to stack it with a thin yellow gold rope spacer, Simone! Wish it was more sparkly. I’ll sleep on it but as of now the white gold stones in person are feeling very meh. Or maybe it’s just my home lighting. I’ll take her outside and inspect.

The smaller stones look better in proportion to your solitaire. While the other ring may have larger stones, do you really want your band to outshine your e-ring?

I would trust your instinct and eyes on that. Btw IDJ had great prices on ther seven stone “PS quality” bands when I was looking for one. Perhaps something you want to explore in the future.

I don’t mind the proportion so much as they don’t give much back indoors.

Reminds me of an I Love Lucy episode when a distressed Lucy tells Ricky she lost her wedding ring and he promised he would replace it with BIG diamonds all the way around the band. She cries, “but I want my little one with diamonds halfway around it!”

Good to know, thanks!

I took both rings outside and they sparkle the same under the sun. I was expecting the bigger stones to outsparkle the smaller ones indoors because they were bigger. I guess since they perform the same, it’s a choice between metals and setting aesthetics.

I like the balance of the smaller one with your existing 1.6 center but I'd go with the larger ring only bc you're planning on upgrading your stone and I think that will be more balanced when you do!

The smaller one looks much nicer with your ring.

Is the rose gold a true eternity band?
I have a strong preference for an eternity band vs. just a ring, so that would make the decision for me.

I like the way you think, ac117! Yeah, performance-wise they are comparable. Sparkly outside, terrible inside. I need to install some indoor Home Depot-level lighting!

Here's a 3 carat cz with the bands. Upgrade won't nearly be this big but I'm leaning towards a new white metal setting.

The rose gold is a half eternity. About 13 3 pointers.
The white gold is a seven stone, about 7 points each.

Okay, I have to admit the white gold looks gorgeous with my near future *fingers-crossed!* ~2 carat upgrade.

But the rose gold set is very nice and I would feel a little (but not too much lol) sad about returning the original.

Id keep which ever is the original one .

Technically, my original wedding ring is a plain Cartier 18k pink gold band. The rose gold pave was a birthday present that I sometimes swap as a wedding band. So I guess the rose gold pave is older than the new white gold but neither one is the "original."

I too think the size of the Rose gold band is more complimentary to your ER =)2

Now that I'm considering the soon-to-come upgrade with the new white metal setting, I'm totally leaning towards the white gold seven stone. Am I terrible? I feel like a traitor to my faithful rose gold set! They're looking at me like, "Damn! You haven't even gotten your new polka-dot-party-from-the-side stone and you're already getting rid of us!":snooty: I don't want to pay for two pave bands, though! @rockysalamander @ac117 @SimoneDi

I get it, but it beats keeping the RG one and then wanting a larger one AFTER you upgrade bc then you won't have the choice (unless you buy another)!

If you’re planning to upgrade, I’d go the 7 stone BUT I’d return it and get a better quality 7 stone since you’re not delighted by the sparkle of the one you have. I like the proportion of the 7 stone better with your ering

It's an insurance claim though. I get to keep one or the other. :|

Oh damn. Would they pay out instead? Probably not right? Maybe keep the rose then and get a sparkliest 7 stone when you upgrade?

No payout. Both rings sparkle (or don't sparkle lol) the same.

It's times like these when I WISH I knew about Whiteflash pre-PS.
