Hi all, I'm very interested in purchasing a diamond to place in a MWM flame setting - therefore the diamond must be between 6.5mm - 7mm in diameter. With this in mind, I'd like to find a diamond that is around 1.2-1.25cts and that is between E-F in color and VS2 (eye clean is all that matters to me) in clarity with excellent cut. I also would like the diamond to be a RB. With these items in mind, I have come across the following two diamonds. I was curious if anyone has comments on either of them (i.e. pros and cons) or any idea how to chose between the two. Also does anyone else know of another diamond that I should consider instead of these two. Thanks for the help.

-Mike

Ellen knows much much much more than me, but I think I would choose the AGS000 ACA rather than the move from F to E color, which is undetectable. They are both very nice looking, though.

Thanks for the comments. Well it seems that we have one vote for each. Does anyone else have an opinion between these two stones? Also, does anyone have anything specific to differentiate between these two stones. Thanks in advance.

True, but when it''s less money for better color, and the diamond is cut to that level, why not?

Plus, I just like the E''s IS image better. *shrugs*

I also vote for the E based on IS and ASET images.

It's not often one chooses a GIA certified stone over an ACA AGS000.

It may be worthwhile requesting an appointment via the video system of one of the whiteflash staff or contacting them in another way to ask what their views about the two stones are. They may be able to see them both in person and give you an idea.

However, based on the IS images and the photos - that round brilliant E,VS is a very nice stone. I also like the IS better but would be interested in finding out why it missed an AGS certification and/or ACA rating. Perhaps the first GIA diamond isn't as tightly cut (pav angle varies 40.4 to 40.9) as the AGS stone but judging from the ASET and IS images, I'm not sure whether this makes a significant difference.

Thanks all for your comments. I called whiteflash and talked to a Tracey, she indicated that the only item of conern for her would be that Diamond 1''s Girdle is Thin-Thin, where Diamond 2''s is Thin-Medium. She said other than this, they are both beautiful diamonds. She also indicated that at this level of color, I likely will not be able to see any difference between the E and F.

I asked why this GIA diamond was not sent out for AGS certification to become an ACA. She indicated that it looked like it would be close to an ACA and that it was in fact AGS-0 according to its numbers, but the gentleman that choses the diamonds that will become an ACA diamond is super-picky, and I would have to speak with him to find out exactly why this one wasn''t chosen. She assured me that in her opinion it had to have been real close to being chosen though.

Does that 0.7-1.0 (Thin-Thin) Girdle scare anyone? How fragile would this diamond be due to the girdle?

Diamond two is 0.9-1.4 (Thin-Medium) - would these numbers make the diamond that much better?

I like the pictures (ASET and Idealscope) of the Diamond 1 better (plus it is slightly better in color) - would the Girdle be enough to make any of you lean to Diamond 2 instead?

Thanks in advance,

Another vote for #1. I like the pictures (and the numbers) better. The girdle would not bother me--between thin and slightly thick is fine.

Well there is also a third stone I have found. Does anyone have any comments on this stone as compared to the other stones Please note that its about $1,000 more. Would it be worth the money difference?

The major differences that I see is Diamond three is worse in Symmetery (Very Good) and is Better Clarity VS1 and Better Color D.

Hi Brenn,

I think the last one is overkill personally. My vote is still the E.

Thanks for the response Ellen.

Anyone else have any comments. I think I will be looking to purchase the diamond on Monday, so If anyone has anything to say between now and then I''d greatly appreciate it. Thanks again everyone, and Thank you pricescope.

Brenn4423

Also I am going to put up new pictures of Diamond 2 that Whiteflash has posted for me. It is the actual Diamond and a new ASET.

(I still think I''m leaning towards the Diamond 1 - the E Diamond).

These new pics were done at my request. With these new pics does everyone still feel that Diamond 1 (the GIA, E colored Diamond) is my best bet?

I still think the idealscope and ASET for the Diamond 1 looks nicer than the newly done pics of Diamond 2.

Anyone else have any comments.

I do appreciate the help, its just such a major purchase for me I want to make sure I pick the right one. ]

Thanks
