My apologies for posting so much recently, but I have until tomorrow to make a final decision on ring setting. I'm a super indecisive person (Libra) so this has been really hard for me!

I am down to two different settings (think shank split). They are very very similar so of course my fiance think I'm tripping out and says to just pick one. LOL

The pics I'm posting are in rose gold, but I think I Might go to with white gold in the end. The second one is going to cost about $500 more. which one do you guys like more?! its crunch time lololol

Setting 1: Stephanie Gottlieb setting inspired. I would be asking David Klass to recreate the ring.

Setting #2: Scout Mandolin split shank (this one is low set and way more delicate, but my sister thinks it looks "more cheap" and like one of those fashion jewelry rings you would pick up on Etsy. I haven't seen many actual pics of this one, but I love how "wide" the split is.

Gottlieb

3-0!!!

I think you guys have spoken!! I'm going with the first one!! Just emailed David Klass to confirm that I'm going forward with him! :) YAY!!!!!! EXCITED!!! :appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl::appl:

I think the first one is prettier with how it wraps around the basket.

Great choice! The first one is very balanced and radiates quality

Setting 1 for me!

Good luck with your decision!

#1.

Echo the others....first setting. :cool2:

I'm going to be a party pooper and go with the 2nd one given the two choices - the reason is because of the side diamond pave that would eat away against a wedding band, if you can manage to find a band that'll sit flush with it. Have you decided which wedding band to wear with it?

You can easily ask DK to bring in the split shank closer together for a more balanced look with the 2nd one.

I go for simple so #2 would be for me. However, I would have DK do it and would have some lovely etching done on the basket
instead of that lumpy stuff that is there. I would probably have the gallery made more like a basket. Why is #2 more expensive than #1?

You have to go with what you like!

I prefer the first one. I like the fluidity of the lines! :)

Definitely the first one

I just dropped off my stone with David Klass!! Turns out we are neighbors(sorta - few blocks away)!! What a small world! Eeeeeeeek

Kudos! You will be happy there is zero doubt.

Only one comment -- stay away from Amy for the next few days, I've got her consumed finishing up my own project. Afterwards, she's all yours.

I LOLed! I should probably be asking him, but could you tell me what kinda timeline this thing normally is on?

He said he was going to send me drawings/sketch?
So I'm guessing:
1) send sketches
2) i tell him any revisions?
3) CAD
4) i approve CAD? or no?
5) ring is made?

thanks!!

You are welcome to read all my dirty details of my experience here:

In short, this is how it's worked out for me thus far:
  • I bought my stone from BGD.
  • I hem-hawed around about who to use. Talked to BGD and DK both. Emailed pics, etc of the inspiration pieces to get quotes.
  • Ultimately decided to use DK around 5/21 and let them know.
  • Original CAD arrived on 5/29. Reviewed, marked up & sent back.
  • CAD, version 2 arrived on 6/1. Reviewed, marked up & sent back.
  • CAD, version 3 arrived on 6/7. Started reviews & markup.
  • Plastic model arrived on 6/13 based on CAD, version 3.
  • Between CAD, version 3 and plastic model I had extensive amount of comments & feedback. Sent that back to Amy @ DK on 6/15.
  • Had some phone conversations & follow up emails over the weekend regarding the design.
  • Contacted Lesley @ BGD on 6/18 and had her overnight my center stone to DK. Arrived safe & sound the next day, 6/19.
  • CAD, version 4 arrived on yesterday, 6/19.
  • Within 2 hours of version 4, I had comments & conversations with Amy. We resolved the last little bit of nit picky stuff. She committed to making a wax model.
  • Literally as I was typing this, I got pics of the wax model and have been texting with Amy.
  • I need to post pics and update my thread, but she text me and said she was preparing tonight so they could cast tomorrow and then polish, set stones and clean up.
  • Amy has promised she will have the ring in my hands by 6/29. :cool2:
With you being local, you may be able to save some time, but I will be in the 30-40 day range from when I actually released them to start until it's finished. The wedding band I voluntarily put on hold so we could ensure the e-ring was here by 6/29. I will follow up after I present the e-ring.

PS - Somewhere in the middle of all that Amy and DK was at the JCK convention in Vegas, so there was a few days I'm sure that wasn't 100% productive for them.

OH WOW! That's alot of reviewing! VERY COOL! I've never ever had anything custom made so this is pretty amazing! Thanks so much for letting me know what to expect :)
Can't wait to see your ring!!!

Thank you! Can't wait to show it off. And technically it's my girl's ring, not mine. But same difference eh.

By the way, take a peek at the thread. The ring I designed was very unique to most, and I think it contributed to the number of reviews and conversations. For a more simple design I don't anticipate it would take that many revisions or work.

I did not have many revisions (2 just because I completely changed my mind) so mine went quick. Once the design was finalized, my DK setting took 25 days. He does amazing work.

I got my CAD back! SOO FAST!! Can you guys tell me if it looks like the ring below? Do you think shank looks as wide and the bands as thin as below? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I much prefer the more pinched shank, so #1

Hey if it helps, my friend had her engagement ring made from the same inspiration pic! This is how it turned out...
