We will need an ASET image of the stones to give you an opinion on the cut of these fancy shape.

Welcome!

Can you post detailed photographs of the diamonds and ASET or Idealscope images if possible please? Pears can vary tremendously and need careful evaluation, so photos at least are essential. If you ask the vendor if these are for sale online they may be able to provide some. Do you know what shape or type of pear you want? Have you seen these in person?

And don't worry about your budget, the long term PSers are used to advising anyone regardless of their budget or what they are looking for!

You would need to ask James Allen for Idealscope, they don't provide ASET, from the photos I must admit I am not loving either of these...

p.s I spent couple hours reading about diamonds and 4c, but I didn''t know that there are different types of pear.

Pears can vary hugely in shape, from long and thin to short and fat and everything in between. Some have nicely rounded ends opposite the point, some resemble shields in this area which is considered undesirable. Thats why photos are so important initially in order to see if a particular pear appeals to you before proceeding.

Have a look through this thread as it has many pears and their details and it will give you an idea of what is out there.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-pears.27270/

Also bear in mind pears may show a little more warmth in J colour, sometimes you might notice this more in the tips in some lights.

I have sent request for Idealscope images. But I would be grateful if you could comment gems just based on the specs.

P.s As far as the pear proportions go - My GF doesn''t have any preference so I would probably go with something in the middle. (I check the Pear-thread and they all look fantastic

)
Once again thank You for such quick and kind response

I usually look for a table that is less than the depth and a few other key measurements which we don''t have. I would rather wait for more photos and ASET or Idealscope images as to be honest I am not super keen on any of them at the moment.

Sorry for bumping up my thread, but I need make a decision in the matter of hours. My tiny budget is around 550$ (+-).
First stone 0.46ct is 360$ the second 0.58ct is 560$.
Would this kind of money buy me a better diamond, should I look some more or the 0.58ct is good way to go?

Greatly appreciate Your help

That is a classic setting and similar to the one I have for my pear - very nice!

Just fix the link then I will take a look.

That is a really bad picture so I would want another to make any kind of judgement, I wish JA did ASET images too as well as IS especially for fancy shapes.

To be honest I am not loving any of these diamonds, granted it is hard to tell with just these photos - I would ask JA to send some more photos of the diamond you like best if possible to get a better idea of how it looks. Do you have to make a decision in only hours? Is it possible to allow more time to look for some others?

I thought they were a such a good deal, that when James allen release them from hold (which will happen in couple hours) somebody will buy it at once. But judging from Your opinion they are not great at all
2.gif

I have to have the diamond shipped to me between 27.03-14.04 so I have some more time to search for a better diamond.

p.s The one that You linked looks very nice, should I request idealscope image for it ? (I have one request available. JA have policy 3 idealscope images per customer)

ditto and spot on.

If you have the time have JA's NY gemologist pull them and talk to you about them while she is looking at them. Her name is Julianna and your sales rep can arrange the call.
You may want to have her go thru them and see if she comes up with any other suggestions on stones to consider also.
Use your third IS image on the one she recommends.

Ditto Storm, if Julianna recommends the one I linked above any others she might feel are suitable then go with that one for IS, but see what she can come up with to be sure the final IS is used wisely.

Ok, I will talk to J. at JA, and ask if she could advice some nice pear diamond, in my price range.

Based on the picture of the ring I am trying to set up, and my budget could You advice me in what ranges can I look.

My GF don''t have any preference in 4C, and I am sure anything over 0.4ct will surprise her in the positive way (most our friends and people around have something around 0.1ct - Yes, they exist

or fakes)

I set my min. requirements to si2 (but eye clean), premium cut (or very good on some sites), Colour J
of course the bigger the better

Hi again,
James Allen Sales Executive got back to me:
"Good news, I had my gemologist examine the diamond and she was very pleased with its appearance. She said that the shape was fantastic, and the ratio was ideal for a diamond this size. She said the measurements gave the appearance of a fuller diamond, and if placed next to a round diamond of the same size, this would appear larger. There is also no indication of a bow-tie effect, which is a shadow like appearance on some fancy shaped diamonds. To sum it up, she said that this was a beautiful diamond that would surely catch your sweethearts eye. The diamond did not perform great in the Idealscope image, but keep in mind that an Idealscope is not meant for or accurate in fancy shaped diamonds. The intricate cut and larger facets allow for more light leakage and can give the illusion of a shallow diamond. This diamond however is beautiful, bright white and full of life in person."

What You guys think? Should I buy it or look for something (although the clock is ticking).

Sorry, IS pictures on fancies like pears are rough when we''re all used to looking at rounds all day. it does look nice, though. I trust the gemologist''s opinion.

Hi faucault!

Thats the one in the link I added above? This one looks ok in IS and if Julianna recommends it then I would give it a chance!
