I had to reset my diamond because my setting got horribly bent. I decided to use this opportunity to do a mini-upgrade. First question do you think the difference would be big enough to go from a H, eyeclean SI1 .90 to one of the stones listed? Also what would you think about a 1.01 J, SI1, AGS Triple Ex don't have the cert or exact specs on that one yet?

Call them and ask them to have their gemologist recommend the best one. Put it on hold. Get the IS and post it. And we'll tell you what we think then.

As for difference. You start noticing size at 2mm increases increments. Do I think it is worth it to go to a 1.01... not really at this time. You are going to get a lower colored diamond that will look substantially similar in size to the one you have. SO I'd upgrade to a 1.2 carat if you can swing it.

Also, I didn't realize JA's policy allows mini-upgrades. I thought you had to double your purchase price.

Hi Gypsy thanks for responding. Do you know where I can find a picture of a .90 and 1.20 side-by-side?

Try youtube. There are a lot of videos there that show the relative sizes of diamonds.

If you're main concern is if the upgrade will LOOK bigger, be sure to check out the mm specs as opposed to just the carat weight. Good luck!

That's what I've been comparing. Mine is a 6.16*6.24*3.78 currently.

If you want your stone to look bigger I can confirm than going from 0.9 to 1.0 carat won't make it (I spent some time last weekend comparing diamonds at a B&M store between 0.9 and 1.2...). You will need to jump to 1.1 or 1.2 to see a significant difference.

Hope this helps :)
