Hi,

Thank you to everyone on here. What an amazing resource.

I have got it down to these three diamonds:

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3016682.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2972942.htm
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2715446.htm

Which one would you go for?

I can afford the D color if you think it's worth it.

But I've read so much on here about how critical cut is and how great the ACAs are -- perhaps I should stick with the G color even though it's not as high in color as the other two?

Thank you very much to anyone who can share their expertise on this -- I am a novice!

Many thanks,

Dave

Thanks so much Gypsy!

Is that from the various images you can tell that?

I'm glad I checked as I was leaning towards the ACA given how much they are raved about on PS.

Thanks again!

If you maximize the 'head shot' of the stone and compare them, you'll see that the F is cleaner. The G is probably eyeclean as well, but the F just looks so nice, why not go for it for the same price!

Oh wow that is nice!

I could stretch for that definitely - similar price to the D color.

Again, not one of their ACAs -- am I putting too much emphasis on that?

Thanks for your reply!

Its images are better than the other two Expert Selection stones, and it looks sooo close to an ACA that I sincerely don't think you could tell the difference! But I am a little nervous because a lurker can snatch the stone. If you can put it on hold online, I would, and then call them in the morning! If you don't yet have a salesperson, Sheerah has been very helpful to me! Any of them can help you, of course!

Have you picked a setting? It is very late on the east coast so I have to go to bed, but I will check in tomorrow morning when I get a chance!

The Expert Selection Line misses ACA only slightly, and it is unlikely it will be a visual difference to you.

The GV2 actually has a much nicer idealscope image and it is going to be a stellar choice. If you can stretch to make it work I agree with DS's suggestion.

Oh great thanks!

I actually spoke to Sheerah earlier today -- and she was extremely helpful!

I was thinking their contemporary tiffany style one:

What do you think?

Thanks so much for your insights re the stone!

Thanks a million Gypsy.

See this is where I struggle -- that other link you've put there looks like terrific value being an F color, also triple ideal cut and eye clean for quite a bit less $$ than the G. It's not that much smaller either.

Is this purely from the images you guys can tell how great the G is? Or is that little bit of extra size worth that much in a lower color?

Thanks again for all your help!

You won't see the color difference. At all. You could set a ring with an F in the center and G's as sidestones and you won't be able to tell them apart. :wavey:

The thing that is worth it to me is the performance difference between the 1.2 carat G and the F. And honestly it has the best idealscope of all the diamonds posted (except for the D).

It's the idealscope that makes me say that the G is the one I'd buy.

Thanks so much for your insights re the stone!

Are you looking for a Tiffany replica specifically or just a nice solitaire setting? That's not my favorite Tiffany replica, but I think Whiteflash has some other beautiful solitaire settings. What are you looking for?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

No not a Tiffany replica specifically but I do know she loves Tiffany so felt it was a safe option. I was actually going to buy from there until I found this wonderful forum and realised I could get a whole lot more for my money and be sure about the quality of the cut thru a company like WhiteFlash.

Is there another setting you recommend that I look at?

Gypsy / diamondseeker -- can I ask what you think as well?

I'd like to keep the setting simple so as to not take away from the diamond. Plus it will allow me to look at a wedding band with diamonds in it for her without it looking too much.

She's 29 y/o and I would describe her as classic / traditional. Size 6 finger so I guess about average but they look very slender to me. Not sure what kind of setting will look best?

Many thanks for all your help!

Ok good - I just wanted to make sure you weren't looking for a spot on Tiffany rep, because I have a friend with this ring and it's very pretty but I think the Tiffany knife edge is much sharper than this style. It's a solid classic choice otherwise.

My fave 4 prong:

Thanks for your advice, can I just confirm this is the one you're suggesting?

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/classic-tiffany-style-knife-edge-solitaire-engagement-ring-734.htm

Reading the description of it, it actually sounds like it's an even better choice from a 'classic' point of view. Maybe it's the better way to go?

Sorry if my post was unclear - I really like the 6 prong you first posted, I just wanted to make sure you knew there is a slight variation from the actual Tiffany setting. But if you are just looking for a classic setting, I think the 6 prong you picked is beautiful.

Fantastic, thanks so much!

And please don't apologise -- I think it is my very limited knowledge that is to blame for not quite following!

Hi Gypsy, I was just curious -- is the D's idealscope even better than the G's?

Thanks!
