Hi everyone,

I m shopping for an engagement ring. I m after a 0.90 diamond, D or E in colour, SI1 upwards in clarity, super ideal cut. I don’t mind flour if that doesn’t impact the diamond colour and clarity. I have found a couple of diamonds that score pretty well on the HCA score, but still unsure on how to inspect them in store to confirm if they are worth buying? Please help on how I can inspect them in store. Store doesn’t have any scopes or tools to look at them. I attached the GIA Certs for them above. Thank you.

We need pictures to help. If you want true super ideal cut you'll need to go with an in house brand. What's your budget?

Neither of those are super ideal cut diamonds. If a store or vendor tells you that they are super ideal, they need to have the tools on hand to be able to support that claim.

Are you truly looking for a super ideal (H&A extreme precision cut) or just a very well cut generic

Under 9k aud i m in Sydney. Is there a good jeweller here that is specialised in super ideal cut? Thank you

Yeah they don’t do super ideal cut here in Sydney. I ve just been reading online about this super ideal cut and fascinated by it. I just really want to find one here in store

If they don’t sell super ideal cuts in Sydney, how do you plan to find one there? Doubtful that could be done. You might be forced to buy overseas.

At this stage, I ll probably be happy with a very well cut generic

I think you'll be better buying online from a reputable vendor rather than trying to find a stone via a jeweler

I think you can find a really well cut generic. You can order online or find a local jeweler who will search for diamonds within a range of specs and send you the GIA reports in advance so you can check them out with us before calling them in to view.

I found this 2 diamonds that score really well in the HCA calculator tool. What do you think? Is there another online tool I can use to check them IMG_8067.jpeg

You can't choose diamonds by numbers alone. You need to see pics /videos. The numbers are a good starting point, but gia rounds numbers, so even with good numbers you can get a dud

This one looks good from the photo?IMG_8069.png

This one has some leakage under the table. I think there are better out there.

Hey OP
I think the forum will flame me for this but here goes:
You are looking for a .90 tcw, that seems to say you are within a budget. If you get something “just less” than 1.00 carats will you regret not splurging a little to jump that hurdle?
The answer to stay within your budget: Go with a lab grown diamond. Don’t let anyone poo poo it. The major sellers on this forum like BGD and WF have jumped in with both feet. For the same or even less money you will get a larger beautiful stone. Good luck.
