Hello! I am freshly fascinated by LGDs, but I'm overwhelmed by the number of vendors (as well as variation in price). I would like an extremely well-cut stone with lots of sparkle. What vendor(s) would you recommend?

In addition to the carat and cut, I would like DEF color, no fluorescence, and at least VVS2 clarity :) I am not super concerned about budget, but I want to pay the right price.

Thanks so much!

To add on more, why are places like Ruby Harper so much cheaper than White Flash for example? I would really like something high-quality, but I would love help to figure that out :D

for example, would something like this be a good buy?

I've been using Daniel Williams for my LGD purchases, and have been very happy with the diamonds I've gotten. I recently purchased a 2.71ct G-VS1 for daily wear in a platinum Gabriel 3-stone setting, and it's absolutely perfect with my 1.53ct F-VS earth mined ideal cut round shared prong eternity band that Wink gave me. I paid $756 for the 2.71ct.

I believe Daniel Williams has the same inventory as Calavera and Ruby Harper, and Ruby Harper has the cheapest prices of the three. If you can find the same stone you can price match or buy from RH.

Hi, checkcheck!
What is your budget cap for just the loose diamond? Depending on what that is, you may be able to get an extremely high quality HPHT with outstanding cut precision and maxed out overall optical performance.

I don't want to hijack this thread but also looking for loose 2.7-3.2 carat lab with the best possible cut, budget 6k. Venders I have been viewing are whiteflash, brian gavin, and ADA, though I have a few concerns about each.

White flash is HPHT but only offers IGI cert, from what I read this is the least stringent, especially the hearts and arrows which is entirely subjective

Brian Gavin and ADA offer AGS ideal and GCAL 8x, but their diamonds are CVD, is that cause for concern when paying such a premium? or can upper end CVD be of the same quality as HPHT

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, @diamondtester84!
I'd be more than happy to help go into detail and even search through some sellers inventories for prime candidates for ya - please create a new thread then tag me using the @ symbol with my username right after it, like it did with your username in this reply. :)

Dark aree in the middle diamond light leakage?Screenshot_20250526_202219_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250526_202126_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250526_202119_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20250526_202152_Chrome.jpg

@DejaWiz @diamondtester84 these 2 carat lab diamond look descent? Can you teach me if dark spots are light leakage?

@DejaWiz and @diamondtester84 is the dark area of center light leakage?

Yes, I'd say that it is increased light leakage.
However, dealing with fancy color diamonds, you may want to place a bit more focus on the color hue, saturation, and dispersement.
Up to you...if you want to place high focus on color *and* cut (what I did when I was looking for a green HPHT LGD), then definitely do so.

Thank you. Both pink lab diamond is hpht

The 2 pink lab diamond are hpht .

OK, that's good but unfortunately the growth method doesn't take away the leakage issues caused by the finer details of cut precision being a bit lacking by whomever did the cutting and polishing.

@DejaWiz both lab pink are hpht so descent cute and proportion.

I disagree, @jstorm - the proportions and angles aren't decent to me...they are a bit outside of true ideal (AGS 0 or GCAL 8X).

@checkcheck - did you find a stone in the end? I’ve seen something in the size range you were looking at that is a beauty
