After weeks of painful deliberation I have finally decided to purchase just a loose diamond online so that I can get the best value for my budget. I just feel like the setting is something that I need to see in person. Anyway...can anyone help me out with a suggestion as to where to go for a setting in the PA/NJ/DE/MD area? I am fairly close to Philadelphia and I know that there are plenty of jewelers up that way. Also, I should add that I am working on a budget of not much more than $1,000 for the setting in white gold with diamonds on the side (a "pave" setting I think it''s called). Also, if anyone has any input as to how warranties and such would work with buying a diamond and then having it set somewhere else I''d greatly appreciate that too. Thanks for your help!

I think Quest Jewelers is in that general area.

I just purchased a new e-ring setting and wedding band from A.R. Morris Jewelers in Wilmington, DE (home of tax-free shopping so as an added bonus no tax on the setting). They have my loose diamond and will be setting it in the e-ring when it arrives from the designer tomorrow. They have a pretty extensive selection of settings on display in the store and can certainly order something that isn't there. A number of my colleagues have recently gone here to purchase their e-rings and so far everyone seems very satisfied. I worked with Kim at AR Morris and she has been very helpful and accomodating. They were willing to negotiate on the price and beat the local Bailey Banks & Biddle retail price for the same exact set by $1650 (as I would have expected them to given the higher overhead for a BB&B mall store)

I ave gone to Bentley Diamond on the Jersey shore... They have a pretty big lab setup to do all the work onsite... They do good work too...

Hamilton Jewelers (I believe in Red Bank, NJ) does lovely work. They are pricey though. They also have several other locations throughout NJ.

There are any number of places on Jeweler''s Row in cc Philly. I don''t believe I am allowed to recommend anyone, but it would be difficult to miss finding several there.

Well, that''s a broad area. (I have looked in 3/4 of those myself!) As Oldminer said, there''s Jeweler''s Row in Phila. There are TONS of stores there, some better than others. Of course there is always Bailey, Banks & Biddle in most malls. They have nice settings, although, given your budget, they might not have much for you. In MD (closer to DC) there''s Charleston Alexander, again might be pricey but could be worth a look. There''s Jared in MD as well; they might be more in your budget. If you narrow it down geographically, I might be able to think of more unique stores. Are you closer to Phila., Delaware, MD or NJ? Are you at all close to Baltimore?
