Where to find fitted merino wool cardigans?

I saw the other thread on Woolovers, but I didn't want to threadjack it. Can anyone recommend somewhere for nice merino wool cardigans? I am in my mid 30s and am looking for a fitted look (not boxy).

I used to get them from Banana Republic 5 years ago, but their quality has plummeted. I've also shopped Brooks Brothers, but their styles are too boxy, fussy, or uber preppy for me. Talbots seemed boxy, and Ann Taylor is hit or miss for quality.

I am looking for black, navy, dark brown, and grays for work.

Try Lord and Taylor. They have tons of merino wool and cashmere on sale.

Banana Republic. They are on the thinner side but don't pill and last a long time. I have quite a few in various colors.

J. Crew/Madewell? Uniqlo?

Oops didn't see that part till I read it again. You've gone off the BR cardigans.

Have you tried Pendleton or Ralph Lauren?

Orvis, sometimes Soft Surroundings.

Thanks, everyone.

Innerkitten, is there a specific one you can recommend?

I would buy from J crew.

Talbots is boxy. Ann Taylor is not 100% merino and the acrylic they put in makes it pill. Lord and taylor has the WORST mail order returns department I have ever dealt with. Banana has plummeted I bought 3 and all of them are being repaired right now, the collars separated from the rest of the sweaters.

Thanks, Gypsy. If I am a medium at Banana, but a small at Talbots, will I be a medium at J Crew?

I just bought some Ann Taylor clothes (not cardigans), and they were all 1 size larger than I expected. I wish they would stop doing that. I'm a small there, and sometimes a XS.

I would measure yourself and use their sizing charts.

Measure your bust (with bra on), waist and hips. Jot it down somewhere and if you are ordering online use the measurements to judge your size. It's really the only dependable way to do it.

I shop at both places and find that I'm usually one size bigger at JCrew than BR.

Gypsy's method is more dependable though. :)

My BR one I bought maybe two years ago is still good. I wear it a lot and it is in very good condition. Now i wonder what they were like before the quality drop!
