Where do you put your handbag in the car?

I put it on my seat. I carry a small crossbody generally. If I am driving it is on the seat near the middle of the car to my right. If I am a passenger it is on the seat near the middle of our car to the left. We drive a Lexus RX SUV so not a small car.

I drive a brand new Mustang. I keep my purse (Prada or LV) on the passenger seat. When I have someone in the car with me, I put my purse on the teeny, tiny, useless backseat. It's pretty much a purse shelf back there, anyway. :rolleyes2:

Well geez, now I want a new car to go with my wristlet! Y'all have interesting sounding cars. My Rav4 is 12 years old and pristine museum quality, but I digress. Your cars all sound more interesting with greater possibilities!:cool2:

Oh, this is a pet peeve of mine! I drive a BMW X3 SUV with all the bells and whistles, yet there's no place to put my bag! FRUSTRATING!!! I put it on the passenger seat when I'm by myself and when I have someone with me, I put it next to me by the driver's side door. It's probably not the best solution, but I don't like it to be too far from me in case I need to grab it in a hurry. Luckily, there haven't been many incidents of theft from smashing/grabbing around here. However, I am always conscious of my surroundings and as soon as I get into my car, I lock the doors-just in general.
The most handbag-friendly car I had was my Honda Pilot, which had about 2" of netting around the top of the center console, which held my bag securely while I drove. I miss that feature!!!

With my healthy sense of paranoia intact, I place my wristlet on the floor of the passenger side. Why? Because it can't really become a projectile there, and no car jacker/mugger is going to see it and try rob me while I'm driving. I don't think there's ever even been a carjacking or robbery while someone was driving where I live, but I prefer to mitigate all risks, obviously. It doesn't make me safe, it only calms my mind a little bit.:eek2:

Unfortunately we have then here in Calgary (people stopped at the lights...etc...)sad :((.

Anywhere it will fit on any given day! I rotate my purses between weekend and weekday use, so I just end up having to find space based on the bag. I've put it on the floor next to my left foot and door, I've put it in the console, on the passenger's seat, in the back, in the trunk. I just find that there is no real place to keep a bag consistently with and without others in the car!

Love my Toyota Highlander. There is a large console between the 2 front seats which you can slide open and closed for this purpose.

I wanted to update. I read every post, and really appreciated hearing how everyone else handles this situation.

I ended up purchasing a LV Popincourt Haut and it fits very nicely in the center console (if I leave the console open). And it hold everything I need, too. So I think this is a good solution.

We're going on a roadtrip with all 4 kids in the new car and I'm a little nervous. It's kind of short on in cabin storage compared to my minivan. But, when I bought my minivan I only had 3 kids and they were newborn, 3, and 5. So now with 2 teens, one tween, and a cute little Kindergartner we are a different family. But I'm really nervous about the trip.

Same here. I also have the same pet peeves as you. :(

Really??? Wow. I have family in Calgary and no-one has ever mentioned anything. I've never seen anything either any time I have been visiting. Nothing like that happens here. But if it did, it would be more of an inconvenience than anything. With stone chips being a common thing here, I have a very low deductible on glass replacement with my insurance, and I never carry cash in my purse. So it would just be a matter of cancelling my cards (which I've had to do once already as my purse was stolen from my office at work once). A PITA, but not the end of the world.

I put mine on the passenger seat. When my husband is with me he puts it in his lap (against his protests, because I really don't want my purse on the gross dirty floor of my car where people's feet go). When I have others, I put it into the back seat. I agree, cars are designed by men. There is always a spot to put one's wallet. There is never a spot for a purse. You'd think they'd just make the glove box big enough, but no....

ETA: I'm not saying I don't believe you. I'm just shocked that this is a thing. It *is* sad.

People don't find it topic of conversation? I am not surprised. Sad stuff like this does occur. I don't feel safe in parking lots & malls anymore.....nuf said.

I'm shocked at that @canuk-gal . I honestly didn't know you'd have problems like that there.:(sad I live in a super safe city in the GTA, but even Toronto proper isn't that bad. Bad areas, yes, but one has no reason to go near those really. Malls are perfectly safe. My daughter works downtown and is out at all hours there with zero issues.

I bought these about four years ago and they’ve been the best thing ever.

I hang my purse strap over the hook and usually let the bag rest on the seat so, that way, if I have to stop suddenly the purse doesn’t go flying. And if I have a passenger, I just swing the hooks around to the back of the seat and it hands behind the seat.

I also have hooks behind the drivers seat where I keep an umbrella, spare jacket, and ball cap hanging at all times just in case I need them.

That's what I was so inelegantly trying to say. I honestly didn't know that was happening in Calgary. That's horrible.
